The final main roster PLE of 2025 will emanate from San Diego.

After a blockbuster year in which WWE introduced two new premium live events and delivered several established ones, the promotion is now gearing up to present the final main roster PLE of 2025: Survivor Series: WarGames.

The 39th edition of Survivor Series will take place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Petco Park in San Diego, California. The show will feature stars from the Raw and SmackDown brands, and it will also feature the two WarGames matches.

This edition will mark the fourth consecutive Survivor Series centered around the WarGames match. It will also be the first of its kind to be held in an outdoor venue, the first to take place in a stadium, the first hosted at a Major League Baseball facility, and only the second Survivor Series to occur in California, following the 2018 event in Los Angeles.

WWE kicked off the build towards the event, with the card starting to take shape. During the November 10 episode of Monday Night Raw, World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk found himself surrounded by Logan Paul, who had allied with Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed of The Vision.

However, before the attack could commence, Jey Uso stepped into the ring to aid Punk, and then Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes darted into the ring to even the odds. The babyfaces took over, sending the heels packing after a short brawl.

Backstage, Punk thanked Rhodes and Jey for having his back. GM Adam Pearce came in to check on them, and Punk, still furious, said he was pissed off and wanted a match against Paul Heyman’s men.

Suddenly, William Regal appeared out of nowhere, delivering his iconic “WaaaarGamesss” line, and Pearce made the match official. Both teams currently had only three members, meaning they would need to recruit two more teammates each before the PLE.

During the November 14 episode of SmackDown, Jimmy Uso, in a backstage segment with Jey and Cody Rhodes, informed them that he would be the fourth man in their team. On the same show, Drew McIntyre joined the Vision team, taking out Cody, Jey, and Jimmy in the final moments.

During the November 17 episode of Raw, Brock Lesnar made his return to join Team Vision, while Roman Reigns returned to join the babyface team. The show closed out with a massive five-on-five brawl.

On the other hand, Nia Jax and Lash Legend interfered in the main event match of the same show, attacking Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. This interference helped the Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane), who pinned Flair to capture the Women’s Tag Team titles.

After the match, the Kabuki Warriors joined forces with Nia and Legend and attacked Flair and Bliss, until Iyo Sky made her return to even the odds. However, she quickly fell prey to the numbers game. Rhea Ripley, who had been absent from WWE programming since the Japan tour, returned and sent the opposing team packing.

Ripley then picked up the mic, announcing WarGames to make the match official. Both teams currently are one member short, and similar to the men’s team, they too need to find one teammate each before Survivor Series.

During the November 14 show of SmackDown, Ripley and Iyo made an appearance and were joined by Alexa and Flair. Ripley, Iyo, and Bliss stated their excitement for WarGames, but Flair stated that she can’t continue as she doesn’t like Rhea. Flair then walked out on them, leaving them two teammates short for WarGames.

Flair rejoined the team after putting aside her differences with Ripley on the November 21 show of SmackDown, where AJ Lee was revealed as the fifth member of the team. The opposing team chose Becky Lynch as their fifth opponent.

During John Cena’s final Raw appearance, Dominik Mysterio confronted him and asked him for a rematch for the Intercontinental title. Cena accepted the challenge and offered him a rematch right then. However, Mysterio refused and instead asked for the rematch in his home turf of San Diego.

Cena once again didn’t back down and accepted, making the rematch official for his final PLE appearance at the Survivor Series PLE.
