The 2024 installment of the game is officially set for release before WrestleMania 41
The partnership between 2K Games and the WWE has surpassed a decade. The company began producing video games for the Stamford-based promotion in 2013. The first game released under the 2K Sports branding was WWE 2K14.
The latest release from the franchise was the 2K24 edition which was released in March and was received well by fans and experts. The 2025 edition of the game is set for release ahead of WrestleMania 41. However, no official date has been announced for the game yet.
One of the most exciting aspects for pro wrestling fans is speculating about who will be featured on the cover of this year’s game. Fans have flooded social media with predictions, and the buzz is as strong as ever. Here we will highlight four stars who deserve to be on the cover of the upcoming edition.
4. Liv Morgan
Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan edged her name in history books this year when she captured the title for the second time against Becky Lynch at King And Queen Of The Ring 2024 PLE.
Since winning the title she has defended it five times against fierce opposition. Morgan’s recent title defense came against Iyo Sky at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14. She is now scheduled to defend her title against Rhea Ripley on the debut show of Monday Night Raw on Netflix.
The two stars have been locked in a fierce feud since SummerSlam 2024 when Dominik Mysterio betrayed Ripley and sided with Morgan.
The Champion has become a fan favorite and represents the new era of superstars. Morgan’s bold, and unapologetic persona could bring a fresh and exciting vibe to the game’s cover.
3. Jey Uso
Since parting ways with his brother ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso has carved a name for himself in the promotion. Jey has become one of the biggest stars in the current locker room which is evident with the fan reception he gets at every appearance.
Jey also won the Intercontinental title which was his first singles title in the promotion. However, his title reigns quickly ended and he was dragged into the Bloodline saga. Jey’s involvement in the two clashes between the Bloodline factions at Crown Jewel 202 PLE and the Survivor Series PLE only made him more popular.
Despite his accomplishments, Jey was often overlooked in the past and the promotion should feature him on the cover of the 2025 edition of the game.
2. The Rock
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson made his electrifying return earlier this year amid much fanfare. However, the fans quickly turned on him when it was revealed that he was replacing Cody Rhodes for the WrestleMania 40 encounter with Roman Reigns.
The WWE creative team obliged with fans and reinserted Rhodes back into the storyline. The Rock turned heel subsequently and joined forces with the OG Bloodline and clashed with Rhodes ahead of the WrestleMania event.
The Rock turning heel was one of the biggest moments of the year and rightfully so considering the star power of Johnson. Since his surprising appearance at Bad Blood 2024 fans and pundits have been speculating the return of Johnson at every major PLE and event.
Johnson has been one of the top stars in the promotion for decades and has been featured on the cover three times, namely in 2001, 2013 & 2020.
1. CM Punk
‘The Second City Saint’ CM Punk made his shocking comeback after eight years at Survivor Series 2023 PLE in his hometown of Chicago. He was involved in a gruesome feud with Drew McIntyre which was voted the best feud of 2024.
Punk took a break after concluding his feud with McIntyre and made his return ahead of Survivor Series 2024 PLE. The Second City Saint joined the OG Bloodline in the men’s WarGames clash and took on Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline in the main event.
After a successful WarGames outing, Punk returned to Monday Night Raw and is currently involved in a feud with Seth Rollins. The two stars are scheduled to lock horns in the main event of Monday Night Raw’s debut episode on Netflix next month.
The Second City Saint has also expressed his intentions to headline the upcoming WrestleMania PLE. The promotion could also grand Punk’s wish and feature him on the cover to make this announcement.
