Five potential finishes for CM Punk vs Kevin Owens’ Undisputed Title match on WWE SmackDown Tonight

CM Punk will defend the WWE title against Kevin Owens.
Kevin Owens made a triumphant return from injury at WWE SummerSlam 2026 and won a Fatal 4-Way match to earn a title shot at CM Punk’s Undisputed WWE Championship.
Not only that, KO strategically picked the August 21 episode of SmackDown for his match, which will take place in his home country of Canada. With the stage set, here are five possible finishes to the upcoming title match on SmackDown:
5. KO wins the match, but not the title
Catch Every Update, Anytime, Anywhere
CM Punk and Kevin Owens have been known to have real-life animosity between them for years. This could lead to a spot where the Second City Saint might snap and use a foreign object on Owens.
In doing so, Owens would win the match but not the title, as the title does not change hands after a disqualification win, further continuing their feud.

4. CM Punk wins clean
CM Punk delivered an impressive high-stakes match against Cody Rhodes, although his victory came with a little assist from Randy Orton.
The reigning WWE Champion could bring his best and use every ounce of athleticism and in-ring acumen to pick up a clean win and prove that he could do it on his own.
3. Kevin Owens turns heel
Kevin Owens has been well regarded as a heel, although he is currently working as a babyface since his WWE return at SummerSlam.
However, a turn of events could see KO unleash his aggression and fury on CM Punk, leading to a proper heel turn and, in the process, winning the match to become World Champion.

Sami Zayn was happy to see Kevin Owens recover from his neck injury but upset that KO stole his moment at SummerSlam 2026.
This could lead to Zayn betraying his best friend at a crucial moment and cost him the chance to win the Undisputed WWE Title.

‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton’s enmity was the reason CM Punk retained his Undisputed WWE Title at SummerSlam.
Both fought over the title at WrestleMania 42, and their heated tensions could have led them to interfere in the title match tonight and end it in a No Contest, prolonging the feud and adding a major new angle.
