Gunther successfully defended his world title in his first title defense at Bash in Berlin

Gunther won the World Heavyweight Championship from Damian Priest at SummerSlam 2024. The Ring General after his first world title win in WWE, he defended his title within weeks against Randy Orton at WWE Bash in Berlin PLE in Germany.

The Austrian made Orton pass away to the sleeper hold and won the match to retain his title. At this stage, here we take a look at the top three potential opponents for Gunther‘s World Heavyweight Championship.

3. Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre was upset about why Randy Orton of SmackDown got the world title shot and eventually interfered with them on Raw three weeks ago, but Punk attacked him from the back to continue the feud. As Punk teased that their rivalry is over in the post show, Drew could now enter the battle for the world championship.

Drew already had a number of world title shots in the past, but got screwed up by Punk, and didn’t get his rematch. At this stage, Drew could rightfully challenge The Ring General for the world title.

2. Damian Priest

Damian Priest lost his World Heavyweight Championship against Gunther at WWE SummerSlam 2024, by Finn Balor’s betrayal. Before going for the rematch to recapture the world title, Priest felt that his revenge against Judgment Day was more important.

Priest and Ripley went on to defeat Dominik and Liv Morgan in a mixed tag team match at Bash in Berlin, despite Judgment Day’s interference. As Priest proves that nothing can stop him from winning the match, he could now go on to challenge The Ring General for the world title rematch.

1. CM Punk

CM Punk recently defeated Drew McIntyre at Bash in Berlin in a strap match to take his revenge and take his bracelet back from him. After the match, Punk appeared for a backstage interview, commenting on the world title match between Randy Orton and Gunther.

Punk said that he doesn’t care who wins the match, and revealed that he is coming for the title. As this being said, Punk could be the next opponent for the world title in the upcoming events, if the feud with Drew McIntyre comes to an end.
