WWE might deliver some major returns ahead of the Royal Rumble.
Ahead of the Royal Rumble PLE, WWE is set to deliver the January 24 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. The first edition of SNME in 2026 is set to emanate live from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
With the Royal Rumble set to take place in Saudi Arabia, WWE may struggle to keep potential returns a secret, as sharp-eyed fans could spot stars ahead of time.
As a result, the company may opt to roll out a few surprise returns at Saturday Night’s Main Event a week earlier instead. Here are the top three returns that might transpire at SNME ahead of the first WWE PLE of 2026.
3. Santos Escobar

After re-signing with the company, Santos Escobar remained absent from WWE programming despite reports of his planned return. Recently, Escobar made a surprise return to WWE’s sister promotion, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) on January 17, 2026.
The leader of Legado Del Fantasma might return to WWE programming following his recent AAA return. With the SmackDown roster getting a boost in 2026, his return would provide new opportunities for the creative team.

2. Chad Gable

The leader of American Made, Chad Gable, has been absent from WWE programming since June 2025 due to a shoulder injury. However, Gable has been back in training and has achieved an absolutely shredded physique.
It is clear that Gable is ready for his return and hungry for competition. A return ahead of Rumble could help him gain back his footing and put the roster on notice ahead of the Rumble match.
1. Dominik Mysterio

Intercontinental and AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury sustained in late December 2025 during a AAA event. Mysterio could repay the favor from Survivor Series and help Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez this Saturday.
Morgan and Roxanne will challenge Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky for the Women’s Tag Team titles. Dirty Dom could make his return to help Liv and Perez, bringing another title to the Judgment Day, bringing back the ‘glory days.’
