The Second City Saint has been on a prolonged absence.
âThe Second City Saintâ CM Punk has been absent from WWE programming since making an appearance on Raw after WrestleMania 42. He appeared on Raw after dropping the World Heavyweight title in the Night 2 main event to Roman Reigns.
Amid his prolonged absence since April, rumours pointed to a rift between him and WWE, while reports hinted at his move to SmackDown.
Some reports squashed the rumoured issues between the two parties, but WONâs Dave Meltzer reported that there were, in fact, issues between Punk and WWE, while also noting that Punk will move to SmackDown and feud with Cody Rhodes upon his return.
Furthermore, reports also revealed that Punk pushed very hard to return on the July 6 edition of Raw, which will emanate from his hometown, at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois. Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select has now provided an update on this matter.
CM Punk will return to WWE next week in Chicago

According to WrestleVotes Radio, the current expectation is that CM Punk will, in fact, make his return on the upcoming July 6 edition of Monday Night Raw in Chicago.
The report also notes that a source at Allstate Arena said they have not received any indication that Punkâs advertised appearance has been changed or removed. Punk is being advertised for the show, but it is not a confirmation of his return.
Regarding his move to SmackDown, Punk himself joked about the move, likely confirming the reports. During commentary for the Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) 156 event last week that he may not be available on Friday nights.
In his last WWE appearance, Punk engaged in a segment with the then-Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes. The segment teased a showdown between the two friends, and now, with the reported SmackDown move, WWE might pull the trigger on the clash.
