WWE SmackDown will see some interesting surprises tonight

WWE SmackDown is heating up as we approach Night of Champions 2025, and tonight’s episode from the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan, could feature more than just the announced matches and segments.

While marquee storylines like Cena vs Truth, Bloodline turmoil, and the WWE King & Queen of the Ring semifinals will grab headlines, WWE is notorious for pulling off unexpected moments that shift narratives entirely.

Here are three potential surprises that could shake things up on the June 20 edition of WWE SmackDown:

3. Karrion Kross costs Sami Zayn his match against Randy Orton

Sami Zayn is one win away from the finals of the King of the Ring tournament, but his recent interactions with Karrion Kross suggest a psychological battle is underway. Kross has insisted that Zayn won’t be able to win unless he embraces his darker nature, something Sami has hesitated to do.

If Zayn resists again tonight, Kross could physically insert himself into the match against Orton, costing Zayn the victory and sending a strong message. This would not only push Zayn toward that darker persona Kross demands but also give us a fresh rivalry heading into the summer.

The interference would elevate both men and potentially give Zayn a more intense edge in the coming weeks.

2. Hikuleo debuts with The Bloodline

The Bloodline’s internal friction is approaching dangerous levels. Solo Sikoa has already warned Jacob Fatu to fall in line, and the arrival of Hikuleo could tilt the balance of power.

While many expect Hikuleo to simply back up Sikoa as another enforcer, WWE could flip expectations by having him betray Jacob Fatu in his debut moment. A shocking heel turn against Fatu would solidify Sikoa’s leadership of this more vicious version of The Bloodline and instantly elevate Hikuleo as a threat.

This could lead to Fatu being exiled from the group, similar to how Roman Reigns cast out Jimmy and Jey in years past, setting the stage for a full-fledged civil war within the faction.

1. CM Punk interferes in the Cena vs Truth match

CM Punk has had John Cena in his crosshairs for weeks now, and last week’s verbal faceoff between the two was among the most intense WWE has seen in recent months. R-Truth has also entered the equation, attacking Cena twice on the same night.

With Cena set to face Truth in a non-title bout, it wouldn’t be surprising if Punk shows up tonight to interfere. He could cost Cena the match or brawl with him afterwards to escalate their heated rivalry before Night of Champions.

There’s also a chance Punk and Truth work together to further isolate Cena, setting up a possible handicap match or tag-team confrontation in the near future. Whatever happens, expect Punk to make his presence felt in a big way.
