These five matches could add a new flair for this year’s ‘Biggest Party of the Summer’

SummerSlam 2024 may still be a long way away, but that has not stopped the fans from speculating. They are excited to see some of the biggest rivalries come to a head at that event. ‘The Biggest Party’ of the summer is arguably WWE’s second biggest event of the year after WrestleMania.

What better event, then, to settle the biggest feuds? Here, we take a look at the top five predicted matches for SummerSlam 2024.

5. Bayley vs Naomi

Bayley has made it clear that she is a fighting champion and will not be intimidated by her opponents. Naomi, on the other hand, is another stalwart of WWE’s women’s division. Their match at Backlash was a three-way contest also involving Tiffany Straton.

While the clash was incredible, the WWE audience would love nothing more than the two veterans slugging it out in a singles bout. The Stamford-based promotion would look to grant the fan’s wishes come SummerSlam.

4. Damian Priest vs Gunther

WWE has teased Gunther’s appearance in the world title scene for a long time. It feels like this year’s SummerSlam might be the time when he finally gets his due. Granted, Damian Priest is up against a colossal opponent in Drew McIntyre at the upcoming Clash at the Castle PLE.

But McIntyre’s feud with CM Punk does not need a title to get over with fans. Hence, it could be possible that Gunther is the next thorn in Priest’s title path.

3. CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre

This is a rivalry that has been around even before the Royal Rumble PLE. CM Punk has been haunting Drew McIntyre for months. ‘The Second City Saint’ even cost McIntyre the world championship at WrestleMania XL. ‘The Scottish Psychopath’ has been obsessed with Punk to a point of no return.

This has led to an enticing game of cat and mouse that has been simmering over in WWE for the better part of the year. ‘The Voice of The Voiceless’ is expected to be cleared for in-ring competition by SummerSlam. This has seemingly confirmed a Punk vs McIntyre duel that fans have been clamoring for a long time.

2. Roman Reigns vs Solo Sikoa

Solo Sikoa has hijacked ‘The Bloodline’ after Roman Reigns’ WrestleMania loss to Cody Rhodes. Sikoa, along with his lackeys, have run riot on SmackDown since then. Nevertheless, things seem to be set in motion for a Reigns and Sikoa showdown at SummerSlam.

‘The Tribal Chief’ moniker could be up for grabs in August if the two collide. Reigns is reportedly busy with his Hollywood commitments at the moment. But it would not be a surprise if he were to return to WWE programming soon and teach his rogue cousins a harsh lesson.

1. Cody Rhodes vs The Rock

WWE has a goldmine on its hands with this one! Pitting a perennial babyface vs a powerful villainous heel has always been a cash cow for the company. This one’s no different, as Cody Rhodes looks set on a collision course with ‘The Rock’ down the line. SummerSlam could be the perfect event to schedule this clash. The two combined to create engaging content in the build-up to their huge tag team match at Mania.

Making a future singles encounter between ‘The American Nightmare’ and ‘The Final Boss’ a foregone conclusion. Fans would absolutely revel at the possibility of these two locking horns again, and it could happen as soon as SummerSlam!

The SummerSlam PLE has always excited the wrestling faithful. The event gives WWE an opportunity to outdo its WrestleMania achievements every year. This time, the fan’s excitement is at an all-time high, with a terrific ‘Show of Shows’ in the rearview. Let’s hope the company has another trick up its sleeves and lives up to all the expectations.
