Top five predictions for WWE Royal Rumble 2025

WWE Royal Rumble 2025 this year will see many legends returning
The 38th annual Royal Rumble is set to take place on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, marking the first Royal Rumble to not take place during the month of January. This will also be WWE’s first PPV and live-streaming event to air on Netflix in most markets outside the US, following the WWE Network’s move to the service in January 2025.
As we are already in the middle of October, WWE will need to lay the groundwork slowly and steadily for the events they have planned for the PLE. And from what it seems, they have already begun.
Here are the top 5 predictions for the event, judging from the current landscape in the WWE:
John Cena to win the Rumble
John Cena has already announced in the 2024 edition of Money in the Bank that 2025 is going to be his last year in the WWE. He also confirmed that WrestleMania 41 and Royal Rumble 2025 will be his last WrestleMania and Royal Rumble, respectively.
This means WWE only has this one opportunity to give him his 17th world title run, finally breaking Ric Flair’s record at 16 times. The easiest way to book this is also the grandest way to do it. Book Cena to win the Royal Rumble and have the dream match between John Cena and Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41.
Of course, they can also make him win the Elimination Chamber instead. They may have other plans for him too outside the world title picture, but none of them would be as big as John Cena finally winning his 17th world title at WrestleMania, which is also going to be his final. So, we think the odds of John Cena winning the Royal Rumble this year are quite high.
Charlotte Flair to win the 2025 Women’s Royal Rumble
Charlotte Flair has been out on injury since Dec. 8, 2023, after suffering a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus during a match against Asuka. She is still recovering from her injury at the moment, but if rumors are to be believed, she will be ready for her in-ring return right in time before the Road to WrestleMania.
This means there won’t be a more perfect time for her to come back than in the Royal Rumble 2025. Also, with her being out for almost a year, fans will finally start getting behind her because they might have grown tired of her being pushed to the moon, but they still missed her this year.
Also, Tiffany Stratton most likely would have successfully cashed in her Money in the Bank on Nia Jax for the WWE Women’s Championship by that time. This could lead to Charlotte winning the Rumble and challenging Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 41, setting up their dream match in the process.
Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns III can take place at Royal Rumble 2025
Roman Reigns has made it perfectly clear to Cody Rhodes that their alliance at Bad Blood 2024 is going to be a temporary one, and the moment Roman Reigns is done with his family affairs, he is coming for the WWE Undisputed Championship.
Assuming that we will be getting the Bloodline Civil War Games match at Survivor Series, followed by Tribal Combat match between Solo Sikoa and Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel, and the Original Tribal Chief will be coming out victorious on both occasions, Roman Reigns will be done with the rogue Bloodline for now.
This means he can finally challenge Cody Rhodes for a rematch for the WWE Undisputed Championship at the Rumble. There is a good chance that this match can also headline the event ahead of the traditional Royal Rumble match.
The Rock can make his return to the WWE at the Royal Rumble
There is a good chance that The Rock can make his WWE return in Monday Night Raw’s premier episode on Netflix. But even if he makes his return on the night, it’s not likely he will be a regular part of the show anytime before the Royal Rumble because of his extremely busy schedule.
However, The Rock is almost guaranteed to show up at the Royal Rumble. There are again two ways to book this. He can just be a surprise entry in the Rumble and go ahead and win the whole thing, challenging Rhodes for the Undisputed Championship at Mania. However, since we think John Cena is going to be the one to win the Rumble this year, we think Dwayne may have something else to do on the night, and that is related to our previous prediction.
If, in fact, we are getting Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes at Royal Rumble, and since both of them are somewhat babyfaces at the moment, we can’t expect a decisive winner at that match. That makes it all but more likely for The Rock to interfere in the match, attacking Cody Rhodes and taking him down, and fulfilling the promise he made to Cody before leaving, which was “champion or not, whenever he is coming back, he is coming for Rhodes.”
Roman Reigns might not like the fact that The Rock is interfering in his business, and we might get the dream faceoff between the two men at the event as well before Jacob Fatu attacks Roman Reigns from behind. This is because if The Rock will face Cody Rhodes at this year’s Mania, then the only man who should be facing Reigns at Las Vegas is the werewolf Jacob Fatu.
Logan Paul and Brock Lesnar can make their return at the Rumble
Logan Paul has taken a break from the WWE after losing the United States Championship to LA Knight at SummerSlam. This is also because his fiancée, Nina Agdal, was pregnant with a daughter, and he took time off to be with his family. But Royal Rumble is going to be the perfect time for Logan Paul to come back to the WWE, and chances are incredibly high that he will.
As for Brock Lesnar, chances might not be that high, as he has been charged with some serious and controversial allegations, and since WWE is under TKO now, it’s not likely they would let him come back before charges or the severity of those charges have been reduced drastically, which isn’t the case right now.
At the same time, it’s worth noticing that WWE has recently listed Brock Lesnar as an active competitor once again in their official roster page. Not that it means something, but we fans are allowed to speculate, right?
The possibility of Brock Lesnar facing off against the likes of Bron Breakker or Oba Femi from NXT is just so interesting. It can also set up a dream match between Bron Breakker and Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, which we all are dying to see.
