Summerslam 2025 will be a two-day event, for the first time in history
WWE SummerSlam 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most stacked events in WWE history. For the first time ever, the Biggest Party of the Summer will be held across two nights, which means WWE is planning something massive.
With WrestleMania 41 in the rearview and Money in the Bank just around the corner, the summer season is heating up. Between Evolution, Night of Champions, and Saturday Night’s Main Event, WWE has several opportunities to lay the groundwork for a blockbuster SummerSlam.
Here are seven bold predictions that could define WWE’s road to SummerSlam 2025:
7. Gunther ends Goldberg’s career in an emotional showdown
WWE has been teasing a dream match between Gunther and Goldberg since their tense confrontation at Bad Blood. Now, with Goldberg reportedly eyeing retirement, July’s Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta, his home turf, would be the perfect stage for a farewell match.
After Goldberg potentially costs Gunther the World Title, the two could collide in a hard-hitting battle. Expect The Ring General to emerge victorious, sending the Hall of Famer off with a standing ovation.
6. Giulia dethrones Zelina Vega for the U.S. Title
Giulia is on the fast track to becoming a breakout star on SmackDown. After pinning Women’s U.S. Champion Zelina Vega in a Money in the Bank qualifier, she’s clearly being positioned for gold.
While a briefcase win might be premature, a SummerSlam title victory would cement her arrival as a top name on the main roster. Vega’s reign has been admirable, but Giulia’s momentum is undeniable.
5. Nick Aldis steps back in the ring against Randy Orton
Tensions between Randy Orton and SmackDown GM Nick Aldis have been boiling since late 2023. After Aldis repeatedly found himself on the receiving end of RKOs, the writing is on the wall for a long-awaited match.
With Orton off TV since Backlash, his return could spark a showdown with Aldis at SummerSlam. The former NWA World Champion stepping into the WWE ring against The Viper would be a first-time clash fans wouldn’t want to miss.
4. Judgment Day cracks as Finn Balor betrays Dominik Mysterio
The Judgment Day’s unity is once again under threat, this time due to Finn Balor’s growing jealousy of Dominik Mysterio. Balor has been stirring the pot by involving Roxanne Perez in Liv Morgan and Dom’s business, and it feels like he’s close to turning on the young champion.
A betrayal ahead of SummerSlam could lead to Balor challenging for the Intercontinental Title and possibly returning to his “Demon” roots in the process.
3. Jacob Fatu splits from The Bloodline 2.0
Jacob Fatu’s slow-burn rise has been one of SmackDown’s most compelling arcs. But cracks in The Bloodline’s new foundation are forming fast. After Solo Sikoa and JC Mateo cost Fatu a shot at Money in the Bank, the time for a breakup is near.
Fatu turning baby face and going solo would position him as a top star and could lead to a personal SummerSlam battle, possibly against his former allies, with major implications for WWE’s most infamous faction.
2. Becky Lynch finally strikes gold again
Becky Lynch’s rivalry with Lyra Valkyria has reignited The Man’s fire. Although Valkyria beat her clean at Backlash, Lynch isn’t done yet. A win at Money in the Bank, especially if she cheats, would keep their feud going strong, setting up a rubber match at Evolution.
Winning the Women’s Intercontinental Title would give Lynch a new reign and Valkyria a chance to complete her story with a decisive victory at WWE’s next all-women’s event.
1. Roman Reigns returns to wreck Seth Rollins’ faction
The biggest wildcard heading into SummerSlam is the return of Roman Reigns. After being attacked post-WrestleMania by Seth Rollins’ faction, which now includes Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, The Tribal Chief has been biding his time.
With Punk already clashing with the group, Reigns could re-emerge at Money in the Bank, possibly costing Rollins the briefcase and setting the stage for a brutal summer feud. Whether it’s Reigns vs Rollins, Breakker, or Reed at SummerSlam, his return would instantly shake up the main event scene.
