The two rivals will collide in a steel cage match in Tampa!

The long-running feud between Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest began when the Archer of Infamy cashed in on McIntyre at WrestleMania 40, ending his title reign that began moments before Drew pinned Seth Rollins.

The feud reignited this year when Priest crushed the Scottish Psychopath’s title dream by eliminating him from both the men’s Royal Rumble and the Elimination Chamber match. The feud culminated in a Sin City street fight at WrestleMania 41, where McIntyre defeated Priest.

However, despite McIntyre believing that the feud is over, Priest quickly made it clear that it is far from over and once again cost him the win in the fatal four-way match for the United States title at Backlash 2025. The two rivals are now set to clash in a steel cage match at the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24 from the Yeungling Center in Tampa, Florida.

Let us now take a look at the top three reasons why WWE should conclude the feud between the two Titans at Saturday Night’s Main Event next Saturday.

3. To prevent overshadowing

The upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event will be the second big stage the two stars will battle in the span of a month. The clash next week will be a great stage to give this feud a decisive and clean finish, which doesn’t get overshadowed by multiple back-to-back matches.

WWE should plan another big storyline for McIntyre, while Priest can go his separate way, a feud with Shinsuke Nakamura or Solo Sikoa is an intriguing storyline for the Archer of Infamy.

2. Lack of chemistry on the mic

While Damian and Drew have cut multiple fiery promos and have delivered as promised every time they step into the ring for a battle. However, the two have failed to create similar magic on the mic, similar to what McIntyre managed to create with CM Punk last year, winning the best feud of the year award.

Several high points of their rivalry have come during their matches, rather than in backstage segments or promos.

1. Drew McIntyre deserves a title shot

An emotion echoed by many fans is that the Scottish Psychopath deserves a title run; he has not held any title in the WWE since his WrestleMania 40 loss to Priest.

There were reports of him getting a push in 2025 by the promotion, and a dominant win against Priest in the steel cage match might be the pathway to getting a title shot next.

McIntyre is already one of the top stars while cutting a promo and delivering back-to-back dominant performances, and the promotion also teased a face-off between him and United States Champion Jacob Fatu on the recent episode of SmackDown.

McIntyre could once again take up hunting the members of Bloodline, and he might start by defeating Fatu to win the U.S. title.
