Rey Mysterio is considered as the greatest luchador in history
‘Master of the 619’ Rey Mysterio began his WWE journey in 2002, captivating audiences with his high-flying style and unmatched agility. Quickly becoming a fan favorite, Mysterio cemented his legacy as one of the most influential and exciting performers in the history of the promotion.
Rey Mysterio has had a remarkable career at WrestleMania, with both significant victories and memorable losses that have solidified his legacy as one of WWE’s greatest performers. Mysterio’s first major WrestleMania win came at WrestleMania 22 (2006), where he triumphed in a triple-threat match to capture the World Heavyweight Championship against Randy Orton and Kurt Angle.
Another standout moment came at WrestleMania 24 (2008), when he defeated John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL) to win the Intercontinental Championship. Over the years, Mysterio has also delivered unforgettable matches, such as his highly anticipated rivalry with Eddie Guerrero at WrestleMania 21 (2005), although he didn’t come out on top in that one.
However, not all of his WrestleMania appearances have been victorious. At WrestleMania 35 (2019), Mysterio was defeated by Samoa Joe in a match for the United States Championship, and at WrestleMania 27 (2011), he lost to Cody Rhodes in a singles contest.
Mysterio also faced a high-stakes loss at WrestleMania 26 (2010), where he defeated CM Punk in a straight-edge match, but not without significant personal stakes. Despite some losses, Mysterio’s career is highlighted by his numerous championships, including multiple World Heavyweight Championships and WWE Tag Team Championships, solidifying his place as a true legend in WWE history.

It was a fast-paced match that showcased Mysterio’s high-flying offense on the grandest stage, but despite a strong effort, he came up short as Hardy retained the title. The match marked the beginning of Mysterio’s iconic WrestleMania journey, setting the tone for his underdog spirit and thrilling performances.
Most recently, at WrestleMania XL in 2024, Mysterio teamed up with Andrade to take on Dominik Mysterio and Santos Escobar.
