Roman Reigns has delivered compelling matches at WWE SummerSlam
Roman Reigns is one of the biggest attractions for the modern era of WWE today. From being the quiet muscle of The Shield to becoming the Tribal Chief of WWE, he has touched unprecedented heights in recent years.
The OTC returned to WWE television programming last week after months on the road to SummerSlam 2025. Moreover, he has had his fair share of marquee matches at the event in the past. So here is a look back at the top five matches of Roman Reigns at WWE SummerSlam:
5. Randy Orton (2014)
Roman Reigns’ first match as a singles competitor at SummerSlam came in 2014. The former Big Dog squared off against the veteran Randy Orton in a huge showdown.
Despite a lack of experience and a threat like Orton in front of him, Reigns managed to defeat WWE’s Apex Predator to pick up one of his first significant wins in the company.
4. Brock Lesnar (2022)
Brock Lesnar had one last chance to dethrone Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam 2022. The clash took place in a Last Man Standing match, in which both competitors tore each other apart and delivered a spectacular match.
The ending saw Reigns enlist the help of his Bloodline to bury Lesnar under multiple tables and fail to answer the ten-count.

2. Brock Lesnar (2018)
After failing to defeat Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 34, Roman Reigns earned another opportunity at The Beast Incarnate at SummerSlam 2018.
The match was a great showdown and more intriguing at the same time as the then-Mr. Money in the Bank Braun Strowman loomed at the ringside to cash in his opportunity. Lesnar sent him packing with a beatdown, which gave Reigns the opening to hit a thunderous spear and dethrone Lesnar for the championship.
1. John Cena (2021)
The main event of WWE SummerSlam 2021 set the stage for the past and present faces of the company to clash for the WWE Universal title. John Cena challenged Roman Reigns for the title, who had been on a dominant run as the titleholder.
