Roman Reigns is set to face CM Punk & Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 41
Ahead of yet another WrestleMania main event, Roman Reigns is making headlines not just for the spectacle ahead, but for what’s coming after. In a candid and wide-ranging interview with Vanity Fair, The Tribal Chief pulled the curtain back on his WWE future, the Vince McMahon controversy, and how close he came to walking away from pro wrestling.
Let’s start with the bombshell: Reigns confirmed his current WWE contract expires after WrestleMania 42 in 2026. That’s right, roughly a year or two left of The Head of the Table running the yard.
“After I finish the contract that I’m in, we probably got another year or two max,” Reigns said.
“Then it’s time to take on a less physical form of entertainment.” (via Vanity Fair)
While fans dream of one final mega showdown with Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns admits keeping some space between their paths for now isn’t a bad idea.
“Three in a row seems a bit much,” he noted. “To keep different trajectories right now between Cody and I, keep us a little bit separate, isn’t a bad thing.”
But it wasn’t always this smooth for Reigns. He got brutally honest about his early run as “The Big Dog,” when the WWE Universe rejected him with open hostility.
“They’re an educated fan base, and they’re just not going to have someone who’s not 100 percent ready pushed onto them… They were honest and I wasn’t.”
Everything changed when Paul Heyman joined him, but the biggest turning point came during the pandemic. Roman revealed he almost left WWE for good when he opted out of WrestleMania 36 due to health concerns.
“I was prepared to walk away if we weren’t going to be able to do what I felt was right for me creatively at the time,” he admitted.
He even touched on politics. Despite being a registered Democrat, Roman Reigns hinted he supported Donald Trump in the last election, saying:
“One person was giving us information. One person was answering questions, so it wasn’t that hard [a choice].”
Whether he’s in the ring or speaking his mind, Roman Reigns is proving once again why he’s WWE’s top dog and the clock is ticking on his time at the top.
Roman Reigns also commented on the allegations against Vince McMahon
Roman Reigns didn’t shy away from controversy either. When asked about the Vince McMahon sexual misconduct allegations, he showed empathy for the alleged victim Janel Grant.
“[Janel Grant has] got to live with all these situations that happened and hopefully she’s in a place where she feels comfortable and she’s secure in her own place.
“It’s embarrassing. That’s stuff you don’t want to hear about. You don’t want your family to hear about.”
