“The Tribal Chief” father has passed away at the age of 79.
WWE’s top superstar Roman Reigns has issued a statement following the death of his iconic father, Sika Anoa’i. Jahrus, Sika’s nephew, revealed on Tuesday that the WWE Hall of Famer has died. Sika was 79 years old. He and his brother, Afa, formed a legendary tag team known as “The Wild Samoans.” Afa and Sika paved the path for many of today’s elite-level Samoan wrestlers.
Roman Reigns is at the top of that current list, and he has thanked people who have reached out following his father’s death. He showed his gratitude towards his fans and shared a statement that many fans would have connected to.
Roman Reigns shares a message full of gratitude
Roman Reigns sent a touching statement on his ‘X’ account following the passing of Leati Sika Amituana’i Anoaʻi. He said, “My family and I thank everyone for the outpouring of support in the name of my father, Pola’ivao Leati Sika Anoa’i, who will forever be remembered as one half of The Wild Samoans tag team.
My father had a profound impact on my entire family and we are forever grateful for the foundation he built for us. There’s no way to fill the void left by his passing but my sisters and I will do our best to represent him and his legacy. Rest in Power, Dad. We love you.”
Samoan wrestlers continue to play a pivotal role in WWE storylines, following in the footsteps of legendary names such as the “High Chief” Peter Maivia and The Wild Samoans. Roman Reigns has made his ancestors proud by becoming one of the biggest stars in the industry thanks to his role as the “Tribal Chief” in The Bloodline, which was bestowed upon him by Sika himself in 2020.
Beyond wrestling, Sika and Afa co-founded The Wild Samoan Training Facility, where they coached and guided the careers of future WWE superstars like as Batista. His commitment to the sport and the development of emerging talent solidified his status as a legend in sports entertainment. As accolades flow in from fans and colleagues on social media, Sika Anoa’i leaves a long legacy in the wrestling industry and beyond.
