WWE announces participants for tournament to determine Roman Reigns' title challenger on 9/14 Raw in Mexico City

Roman Reigns will defend the World title in Mexico City.
On the fallout show of Raw in Des Moines, Iowa, AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio approached Roman Reigns in the closing moments, and the two went ahead for a meeting. It was later revealed that Reigns will defend the World title on Raw in Mexico, and a tournament will determine his challenger.
The September 14 edition of Raw is set to air live from the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico, and will feature the marquee match for the World Heavyweight title. Below are the brackets for the tournament along with dates and more.
Penta takes on Laredo Kid in the first match of the tournament

The tournament will kick off on the upcoming edition of Monday Night Raw in Norfolk, Virginia. The first round will feature Penta vs Laredo Kid on the August 10 episode of WWE Raw.
Meanwhile, Psycho Clown will face La Parka on the August 15 episode of AAA on FOX. On August 17 on Raw, Dragon Lee will take on El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr., while Rey FĂŠnix will face El Fiscal on the same show.
The winners of the first-round matches will advance into the semi-finals, with the winner securing the spot against âThe OTCâ Roman Reigns on the September 14 show in Mexico. Below is an entire rundown of the entire tournament.
First Round:
- Raw, August 10: Penta vs Laredo Kid
- AAA, August 15: Psycho Clown vs La Parka
- Raw, August 17: Dragon Lee vs El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr.
- Raw, August 17: Rey Fenix vs El Fiscal
Second Round:
- Raw, August 24: Penta or Laredo Kid vs. Psycho Clown or La Parka
- Raw, August 24: Dragon Lee or El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. vs. Rey Fenix or El Fiscal
Final:
- Raw, August 31: Tournament Final
Raw, September 14: Roman Reigns (c) vs Winner of the tournament â World Heavyweight title match
El Grande Americano is not part of the tournament
Despite murmurs of El Grande Americano facing Reigns for the title, WWE has not featured Americano in the tournament, which means one of the aforementioned superstars will get the chance to battle Reigns for the ultimate prize in WWE.
Reigns is coming off a title defense in the main event of Night 2 of SummerSlam this past weekend. He defeated Seth Rollins to retain the title in his third title defense. His title reign is currently at 111 days and counting.
