Goldberg comments on Asuka surpassing his WCW winning streak

In a recent interview on Real Talk with Mike Burke, Goldberg was asked about his WCW winning streak. During his initial run in WCW, Goldberg amassed an undefeated streak of 173 victories before suffering his first loss to Kevin Nash at WCW Starrcade 1998.
Multi-time WWE World Champion Asuka shattered the Hall of Famer’s record racking up win after win across 914 days during 2015-17. The streak ultimately ended at the hands of Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34 in 2018.
Neverthelss, Goldberg has taken issue with Asuka breaking her record. During the conversation, Burke mentioned Goldberg’s WCW winning streak of over 170 matches, saying, “Nobody’s ever going to beat that.” Goldberg replied, “They already did.”
When Burke asked, “Who did,” Goldberg pointed to Asuka, saying, “Some girl at WWE. They did it on purpose.”Goldberg cotninued, “Yeah. I have nothing against the girl by any means,” The Hall of Famer reflected that now that WCW is gone and WWE dominates, he feels the company can treat anyone however it wants.
“The whole WWE experience was always, you know, cuz I was a part of WCW when we were kicking their ass in the Monday Night Wars. And I didn’t know what was going on at the time.
I was just on one of the sides. And now one side dissolved and the other one consumed everything, and so they can treat everyone and anybody everything the way they want.”
He further acknowledged that there will always be some resentment toward him for being part of WCW, where he quickly became champion and the company outperform WWE in the ratings.
“And I think there’s always going to be, not the stigma, but there’s always going to be the burr in their ass that I was part of a company that you know, in a very short period of time, I was the champion and we were beating them in the ratings.”
