Sami Zayn has been in WWE for over a decade and wrestled in some of the biggest stages
Sami Zayn is one of the most talented, but underrated professional wrestlers, who has been in WWE since 2013. Sami made his WWE debut in the NXT brand and had one of the most successful runs by winning the NXT Championship. Zayn moved to the main roster in 2015 and has transformed himself into one of the most celebrated and successful stars in the company.
Sami in WWE’s main roster is a six-time champion and got involved in some of the biggest storylines and some of the biggest events. With the biggest event of the summer, SummerSlam 2024 in the corner, we take a look at Sami’s record at the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view.
Sami Zayn’s SummerSlam record
At the 2016 SummerSlam pay-per-view, Sami Zayn teamed up with Neville and faced the most decorated team in the pro-wrestling industry The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley & D-Von Dudley) in a tag team match in the pre-show of the event. This is the SummerSlam debut of both Sami Zayn and Neville, however, Dudley has great experience wrestling at the grandest stage.
Dudleys played their heel game by mocking Sami and punishing Neville, however Neville and Sami played the underdog role. During the match, Bubba accidentally clotheslined Devon, which made Zayn deliver a helluva kick and Neville delivered the red arrow on Bubba to secure the win. With this, Sami started his SummerSlam record with (1-0).
Unfortunately, this was the only SummerSlam, Sami Zayn got featured in, and never got the opportunity to show up at the grandest stage of summer again, to date.
Sami is expected to make his SummerSlam return this week, by defending his Intercontinental Championship on the line. The match is not confirmed yet and we need to wait until WWE officially confirms Sami in the match card.
