He is the second wrestler to become the two-time Grand Slam Champion after The Miz.
Seth Rollins has always been at the top of the game and is surrounded by the championship spotlight. With that being said, here we take a look at Rollins’ top five best WWE World title matches.
5. WWE Championship Match- Dean Ambrose vs Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins
At Battleground 2016, Dean Ambrose defended his WWE Championship on the line against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins in a triple-threat match. This is the first time all three members of The Shield fought against each other for a title. The match was filled with a lot of temporary alliances and tough fights.
Ambrose and Rollins took Roman out of the match for a long time performing a double powerbomb over the announcement table. In the final moments of the match, the momentum swung in all three directions, however, Ambrose delivered Dirty Deeds on Roman Reigns to retain the title.
4. Universal Championship match- Seth Rollins vs Brock Lesnar
At SummerSlam 2019, Brock Lesnar defended his Universal championship against Seth Rollins in a singles match. They had a backstory where Rollins defeated Lesnar at WrestleMania 35 to become the Universal Champion. On the other hand, Lesnar cashed in his MITB contract at Extreme Rules to take the title back at Extreme Rules. This is a grudge-filled match where Rollins was the ultimate underdog.
In the final moments of the match, Seth Rollins delivered three Curb Stomps to Brock Lesnar and won the Universal title for the second time. This is the first clean loss for Brock Lesnar while defending the world title.
3. Inaugural Universal Championship Tournament Finals- Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor
At SummerSlam 2016, Seth Rollins and Finn Balor competed in the Universal Championship tournament finals match to crown the inaugural Universal Champion. This is the PPV debut of Balor, who competed in the Demon King gimmick with the face paint. Rollins delivered a tough fight and eventually injured Balor’s shoulder, however, Balor managed to defeat Rollins to become the Universal Champion. Although Rollins lost the fight, it was one of the best championship matches of The Architect.
2. WWE World Heavyweight Championship match- Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose Cash-in
At Money in the Bank 2016, Roman Reigns defended his WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a singles match against Seth Rollins. Both have a great fight where Roman was initially checked by the doctors for accidentally spearing the barricade. Curb Stomp was banned at that time, where Rollins used Triple H’s Pedigree as his finisher. In the final moments, Rollins countered the spear with a Pedigree and followed by another to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship after a 26-minute brawl.
When Rollins was barely able to stand, Ambrose who won the MITB briefcase earlier the same day cashed in his contract to defeat Rollins. This is the first event where all three members of the Shield held the World Heavyweight Championship.
1. WWE World Heavyweight Championship- Brock Lesnar vs Seth Rollins vs John Cena
At Royal Rumble 2015, Brock Lesnar defended his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins and John Cena in a triple-threat match. This was one of the best non-Royal Rumble matches of the pay-per-view.
The match witnessed extreme fights with Rollins getting help from J&J Security and trying everything to win the title, Lesnar was carried out for a medical emergency and involved in weapons. Despite all the hurdles, Lesnar retained the title with a bad rib but delivered an F-5 on Rollins.
