The former Shield members, turned bitter rivals, will continue their feud at SummerSlam.

Despite starting their main roster journey as the Shield alongside Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley), Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns went their separate ways after the split of the dominant faction. Both men carved a name for themselves, cementing themselves as main event attraction.

Both Rollins and Reigns were not only able to capture World titles on multiple occasions, but also amass accolades, transforming into two of the biggest names of their generation. Here we will take a look at the head-to-head record in WWE between the two and analyze who came out on top when the two collided one-on-one.

Although Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins have clashed in multiple matches, including triple-threats, tag teams, and more, with many of them being during house shows, the two have fought each other in singles action a total of 10 times in WWE.

Their first-ever singles encounter on WWE TV transpired on the Raw edition of September 15, 2014, after Rollins betrayed his Shield brothers. Reigns picked up the win in their first encounter.

Since then, there have been notable encounters between the two, including the ‘Heist of the Century’ when Rollins cashed in the MITB contract at WrestleMania 31 in 2015 during Brock Lesnar’s title defense against Lesnar to win the World Heavyweight title.

One of their most recent encounters saw Rollins pin Reigns at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas to win the triple threat match also involving CM Punk.

In 2026, Reigns and Rollins are once again set for a collision course; this time, the World Heavyweight title is up for grabs. Rollins returned from injury at Elimination Chamber 2026 to resume his feud with Bron Breakker and the Vision. After his second win and third overall over Breakker at Night of Champions, Rollins challenged Roman for the title, which he never lost and had to relinquish after Crown Jewel 2025 due to injury.

Reigns accepted the challenge on the Night of Champions fallout show of Raw to make the World Heavyweight title clash official for SummerSlam 2026. The bout marks their eleventh singles encounter as Reigns looks to continue his title reign, while Rollins wants to regain the throne he never lost.
