The WWE Universe has seen some of the most unlikely pairings in the history of the promotion.

WWE has been the home to some of the most unlikely alliances coming together for common goals or to triumph over the same rivals. Over the years that followed, some of the most highly unexpected teams have teamed up and battled side by side, out of which here are the top seven times top rivals teamed up in WWE:

7. Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso

Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso had been rivals amidst Rhodes’ feud with The Bloodline going into WrestleMania 39. However, as the summer approached, Jey left the Bloodline and came to RAW to align with Cody, with the duo even having a short reign as the Undisputed WWE tag team champions in 2023.

6. Sheamus & Cesaro

The rivalry between Sheamus and Cesaro saw them collide in a Best of Seven series matches. Following their series tied 3-3, the rubber match at WWE Clash of Champions saw the match ending in a double count-out, which led to then-RAW GM Mick Foley putting them together, and they emerged as one of the most popular teams at the time, ‘The Bar.’

5. Triple H & Shawn Michaels

After Shawn Michaels returned to WWE in 2002, Triple H turned his back on him with a rivalry prevalent between them for an entire year. However, a few years later, the duo reunited as D-Generation to combat Mr. McMahon and Spirit Squad, and later, in 2009, they also reigned as WWE tag team champions.

4. John Cena & Batista

John Cena and Batista became two of the biggest stars since the Attitude Era, yet had one of the most heated rivalries in 2010. However, two years prior, the duo came together to form a short-lived alliance that saw them also reign as WWE tag team champions, but only for a week.

3. John Cena & Shawn Michaels

On the road to WrestleMania 23, the rivals, John Cena and Shawn Michaels, feuding for the WWE Championship, came together as a tag team and clinched the tag titles. However, right after The Show of Shows, Michaels ended his partnership with Cena, with the duo losing their titles in the process.

2. Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins was the first and one of the most high-profile rivals for Cody Rhodes after returning to WWE in 2022, which saw them compete in a series of three enthralling matches. However, Rollins became his Shield on the road to WrestleMania 40, with the duo even teaming up to battle The Rock and Roman Reigns on Night 1 of the show.

1. Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes

Roman Reigns‘ quest to regain his sacred ‘Ula-Fala’ from Solo Sikoa has been stopped by his new Bloodline. However, on the season premiere episode of SmackDown on the USA network, Reigns helped his former rival, Cody Rhodes, against their common enemy. At the end of the show, Reigns and Rhodes signed the contract to face Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu at WWE Bad Blood PLE in a tag team match, bringing this unlikely duo together to face their common enemy.
