The Celtic Warrior has been moved to the alumni section.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, ‘The Celtic Warrior’ Sheamus will be leaving WWE as his contract is expiring. The report adds that the multi-time Champion rejected a restructured extension offer made by the company.

“Sheamus is set to leave WWE as his contract is expiring. He rejected a restructured extension. He was not released.”

Notably, the Celtic Warrior has been absent from WWE programming since the  November 17 edition of WWE Raw, teaming with John Cena and Rey Mysterio to defeat The Judgment Day (Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor & JD McDonagh).

The Celtic Warrior then suffered a shoulder injury that forced him to undergo surgery and withdraw from “The Last Time is Now” tournament, which decided Cena’s final opponent. He underwent shoulder surgery in December.

Since his contract is expiring, Sheamus won’t be subject to WWE‘s standard 90-day non-compete clause, allowing him to sign with any promotion immediately as a free agent.

Following the news, Sheamus has now been moved to the alumni section. This has been reflected on WWE‘s website, a move which usually indicates a departure from the company.

The Celtic Warrior started his WWE career in 2006, and went on to capture the World titles multiple times, along with the U.S and both Tag Team titles. He only needed to capture the Intercontinental title to become a Grand Slam Champion in WWE.

Speculation has been rife about Sheamus’ next move, with many fans wondering whether he could join AEW. However, there has been no official confirmation or credible report linking him to the promotion at this time.

Is Sheamus leaving WWE?

Yes, per Fightful, the Celtic Warrior is expected to leave WWE after declining a contract extension.

Will Sheamus have a 90-day non-compete clause?

No, since his contract is expiring rather than being terminated, he is not expected to be subject to WWE’s standard 90-day non-compete clause and could sign with another promotion immediately.
