Top five shocking moments that could define WWE Clash in Paris 2025

WWE Clash in Paris 2025 is just days away
When WWE made its French debut at Backlash 2024, fans inside the Lyon arena set a new standard for energy and passion. The response was so electric that WWE wasted no time plotting a return. That return is Clash in Paris 2025, set for August 31 at the Paris La Défense Arena.
This weekend’s Premium Live Event features some blockbuster matches: John Cena vs. Logan Paul in Cena’s final pay-per-view match in France, Seth Rollins defending the World Heavyweight Championship against CM Punk, LA Knight, and Jey Uso, plus a heated showdown between Sheamus and Rusev. Becky Lynch will also defend her Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Nikki Bella.
But as history often shows, big events can sometimes bring more chaos than celebration. And if WWE isn’t careful, a few decisions in Paris could define the night for all the wrong reasons.
5. Rusev and Sheamus have a bad match

On paper, Sheamus vs Rusev has all the makings of a hard-hitting classic. The two former League of Nations teammates are known for their striking, and fans are expecting a bruising affair reminiscent of Sheamus vs. Gunther.
However, this is Rusev’s first PLE singles match since returning to WWE. The pressure of a 15–20 minute battle on foreign soil could prove difficult. He’s had warm-up bouts against Sami Zayn and Sheamus on Raw in recent weeks, but this is a far bigger stage. If their timing falters, what looks like a dream clash could turn into a letdown.
4. Nikki Bella stuns Becky Lynch

The promo exchange between Becky Lynch and Nikki Bella ahead of Paris was a highlight of Raw, but few believe Bella should walk away as champion. Becky’s reign as Women’s Intercontinental Champion has given the title legitimacy, and plans appear to be building toward Bayley’s eventual challenge.
If WWE opts to shock the crowd by having Nikki win, it could derail ongoing storylines. Bella is a strong name for marketing, but handing her the belt at Clash in Paris would feel like a temporary move rather than long-term storytelling. Near falls are fine, but Lynch leaving with her gold intact is the smarter play.
3. Brock Lesnar returns to attack John Cena

Rumors are swirling that Brock Lesnar could appear in Paris. After all, he made a surprise return at SummerSlam to attack John Cena, and fans always brace for “The Beast” when stakes are high.
But repeating the same exact shock could weaken both Cena and Lesnar’s angles. Paris would erupt at the sight of Brock, but hitting another F5 on Cena would feel redundant and lazy. WWE should resist the urge to pull the same stunt twice. If Lesnar’s story with Cena is meant to carry into Wrestlepalooza, it should be saved for that stage.
2. CM Punk eats the pinfall

Few fans would accept CM Punk taking the loss in Sunday’s Fatal-4-Way. He already suffered heartbreak at SummerSlam when Rollins faked an injury, cashed in Money in the Bank, and stole the World Heavyweight Title.
If Punk is pinned again in Paris, it risks overexposing him as a victim and weakening his eventual revenge story. The better option? Have LA Knight or Jey Uso take the fall. Punk’s rivalry with Rollins still needs time to simmer before it reaches its boiling point.
1. The World Heavyweight Title changes hands

Finally, the most shocking possibility: a sudden title change. Seth Rollins just regained the championship in dramatic fashion at SummerSlam. Losing it in his very first defense would undo that momentum.
While WWE creative has been known to spring surprises, having Punk or another challenger win in Paris would feel premature. The fans want drama, not confusion. Rollins retaining keeps the long-term storytelling alive and leaves room for his feud with Punk to escalate at future events.
When is WWE Clash in Paris 2025 taking place?
The event will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Paris La Défense Arena in Nanterre, France.
Will there be any title changes in Paris?
While possible, most expect champions like Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch to retain their belts, with WWE saving bigger twists for Wrestlepalooza in September.
