Roman Reigns became one of the best heels ever after his WWE Return in 2020

The Original Tribal Chief and the longest-reigning world champion of the modern era, Roman Reigns, made his much-anticipated return to the WWE at SummerSlam 2024.

As most fans expected, he came back as a babyface, taking down the self-proclaimed new Tribal Chief, Solo Sikoa, and his rogue Bloodline, helping Cody Rhodes retain his WWE Undisputed Championship.

The two men teamed up at Bad Blood 2024 to take down Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu in a tag team bout, which also featured the return of Jimmy Uso, who aligned himself once again with Roman Reigns.

It looks like we are headed towards a Bloodline civil war at the WWE Survivor Series inside the War Games match, with the original Bloodline on one side and the new Bloodline on the other. That would mean Roman Reigns is a full-blown babyface, right?

We think so too, but what if WWE was just playing with us, and deep down, he is still the heel of this story? Here are five reasons that suggest Roman Reigns is still a heel in the WWE:

Roman Reigns is still eyeing Cody Rhodes and the WWE Undisputed Championship

Before they teamed up against the rogue Bloodline at Bad Blood 2024, Roman Reigns mentioned to Cody Rhodes that the moment he is finished taking care of his family business, he will be coming for Cody Rhodes and his title, to which the American Nightmare replied that it was not his to take.

This suggests that we will get a match between the two shortly, and who do you think will be the heel in that rivalry? Cody Rhodes is a Captain America-style babyface, and it doesn’t seem like he is turning heel anytime soon.

Roman Reigns’ character, on the other hand, is not a traditional babyface; he is just on the good side in the current landscape of the Bloodline saga.

Once that is taken care of, WWE might once again turn him into the villain who will go to any lengths to take back his championship.

Roman Reigns hesitated to help Cody after their match at Bad Blood

This might be seen as character development on the part of the Tribal Chief, who would previously never listen to anyone but himself, finally listening to his cousin Jimmy Uso and agreeing to help Cody Rhodes, who was getting beaten down by the new Bloodline after they lost to the team of Cody and Reigns.

Roman wanted to leave, suggesting to Jimmy that his helping Cody was a one-time thing, but Jimmy convinced him to help Cody and return the favor.

This hesitation can also be a hint that, on the inside, Roman Reigns is still the same selfish man who cares about nothing else but his own personal accomplishments, which is why he wanted to leave after getting the victory, wanting nothing to do with his partner.

Roman Reigns hasn’t apologized to Jey Uso yet

Roman Reigns seems to be on board with the idea of Jey rejoining the Bloodline since they are outnumbered, and he needs help, but Jimmy Uso is the one who is going leaps and bounds to convince Jey. While it makes sense since Jimmy is his twin brother, let’s also not forget that the entire thing is Roman Reigns’ fault.

While we saw him telling Jey that he is really proud of him, he never apologized to him for all that he made him go through in kayfabe. This can mean that Roman Reigns feels that Jey Uso is beneath him, and as the Tribal Chief, he is not answerable to Jey Uso for his actions.

Solo Sikoa exposed Roman Reigns by stating that he is still the same person

In the main event of last week’s SmackDown, we got a segment between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. There, Roman Reigns asked Solo Sikoa what he needed to do on his part to get all of them back to the promised land once again. To this, Solo Sikoa replied that all he has to do is acknowledge Solo.

When Roman acknowledged him, Solo Sikoa tried to trigger Reigns further by asking him to acknowledge Sikoa as his Tribal Chief, threatening him by adding, “Acknowledge me, or else.” To this, Roman Reigns screamed at the top of his lungs, “Or else what?” This scream reminded everyone of the old Tribal Chief for a split second.

To this response, Solo Sikoa started laughing, saying that he knew Roman hadn’t changed one bit, and since Roman hadn’t changed, neither would he. Thereafter, he launched a four-on-one attack on Roman Reigns, systematically taking him down.

But Solo Sikoa did have a point; what if all of this is a facade, and Roman Reigns is pretending just to take back power in his hands? Thereafter, he will once again become the same evil monster that he was in the last four years.

Roman Reigns originally stated that Solo Sikoa would be the next Tribal Chief in his absence

Talk about long-term storytelling; this is it. Roman Reigns, when he was WWE Undisputed Champion, stated on multiple occasions that when he would be gone or if something were to ever happen to him, then Solo Sikoa was the next Tribal Heir.

Roman lost to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40, and Roman also stated that if he lost, then he would leave the WWE at that time. And he lost, and thereafter, he left.

So, Sikoa acted; he took power in his own hands, and he formed his own Bloodline, he took down anyone who questioned his authority, and tried to bring the WWE Undisputed Championship back to the family until Roman decided to come back which cost him the championship.

Isn’t Roman Reigns going back on his words and compromising the glory of the Anoa’i family? Or is that Roman Reigns just being selfish? Does that mean Roman Reigns wants his family on the promised land only if he is on top of the food chain as the Tribal Chief and not in any other way?

Solo Sikoa might look like the bad guy in this story, but if you look deep enough, he has valid reasons for a lot of his actions. And in many ways, Roman Reigns is still the bad guy in this Bloodline Saga.
