WWE SmackDown Results, Highlights & Winners (March 08, 2024): Cody Rhodes slaps The Rock

The March 08, 2024 episode of Friday Night SmackDown is officially over and it is one of the most anticipated shows in recent times. This week’s WWE SmackDown featured a number of battles and segments including a major match got confirmed for WrestleMania XL. Get to know what happened on this week’s SmackDown as we came out with the complete match summary, highlights, winners, results and grades of the show.
WWE SmackDown Summary & Highlights
Logan Paul makes major announcement
Logan Paul kicks off Friday Night SmackDown. He says that his first match came at Dallas, Texas. He claims that he is a conqueror and says that he joined WWE to Takeover. Whatever he touches turned gold and he’s not talking about his title, youtube, or 5 star matches. He’s talking about his wrestling career and the company is on Prime. The Prime is advertised in the middle of the ring and said that Prime is the center of the ring sponser for WWE.
Logan Paul welcomes KSI to the ring. Logan Paul & KSI pose for a photo, but Randy Orton’s music played. Randy came from nowhere and tried to RKO Logan. As Logan escapes, Randy Orton hit an RKO to KSI. Orton dragged KSI over the Prime Logo and pour the Drink over him.
Randy Orton & Kevin Owens vs Austin Theory & Grayson Waller
Kevin Owens & Austin Theory start the match, where Owens took Theory down with a shoulder tackle and arm drag. Theory fights back, but Owens took Theory down and hit a Senton. Waller got tagged in and Owens tags Orton in.
Orton took Waller to the corner, poke his eyes and hits ten punches to the face, with the tenth punch to Theory. Theory and Waller quickly took control of the match with a dual attack.
After the commercial, KO tries to fightback, but Waller and Theory took control of him with a double overhead suplex. Waller mocks Orton’s RKO, but Owens made Waller collide with Theory and tags Orton. Orton looks for an elevated DDT, but Theory saved him.
Owens hit a Cannon ball on Theory, Waller escaped. Orton pulled Waller to the ring and hit an Elevated DDT. Theory and Waller tried to attack Orton, but Owens came to the ring and hit a stunner on Waller. Owens popped up Theory and Orton hit an RKO on him for the win.
After the match, Logan Paul attacked Orton and Owens from the back. He took the Brass Knuckle to knock out Orton again. But Orton took the Brass Knuckles from him and tried to knock him out. Logan escapes and he is so close from knocking out Kevin Owens, but stopped.
Backstage Interview- Bayley
Bayley is asked about Dakota Kai turning on her last week. Bayley says that Kai betrayed her after she started trusting her. Bayley says that everything is backfiring on her. Bayley said that she formed Damage CTRL and promised to break it.
Backstage- Naomi & Bianca Belair
Naomi was watching Bayley’s interview and Bianca Belair came to meed her asking, why she is worrying about Bayley. Both discuss about Bayley’s situation & Naomi feels bad for Bayley, but Belair said that this is Bayley’s business and she started it all.
Bobby Lashley vs Karrion Kross
Both lock handa and Lashley strikes first with shots to the back and to the mid section. Kross fights back and hit a overhead suplex. Lashley hit a German suplex and Kross rolls out. Lashley took Kross to the barricade and over his shoulder to hit him over the ring post, but Scarlett stopped him. Kross used the distracting to attack Lashley and thre him over the ring post to gain control.
After the commercial, Kross locks Lashley’s arm with an Arm lock and hit a Dragon Suplex. Kross locks Lashley’s head and sends him out of the ring. Lashley took Kross down with a clothesline and hit his face over the ring post. Lashley tried to spear Kross, but got countered with an innovative Deathvalley Driver. Lashley took down Kross with a throwdown slam and looks for a spear, but AOP attacked Lashley to stop the match.
Street Profits came for the save and took AOP out. Lashley looks for the Hurt Lock on Kross and Scarlett stopped him. B-Fab slapped her and took her out. As Lashley lock Kross with a full nelson. AOP save him. Kross hit his finisher, Final Prayer and made the statement.
Backstage
Dragon Lee is confronted by LDF and they make fun of him, stating that he is a little kid dressed like Rey. Escobar says that LWO is nothing infront of them and Dragon Lee is not the future, but the LDF is. Angel Garza pushed Lee and Escobar asked him to leave, as he is not Rey.
Michin vs Tiffany Stratton
Michin looks for a backslide, but Tiffany escaped. Tiffy took Michin to the corner, hit a gymnastic splash and stomped her. Tiffy hit a backdrop and hit her on the neck. Michin took down Tiffy and looks for a Phenomenal Splash, but Tiffany took her down and hit the Prettiest Moonsault Ever for the win.
AJ Styles & LA Knight
AJ Styles cuts a promo against LA Knight and explains why he attacked him at Elimination Chamber. Styles claims that Knight is an under-talent, with big mouth. Knight matched his promo on Tv and got pissed of. Knight broke the television and strikes it with the chair.
New Catch Republic
Tyler Bate was playing WWE 2K24, where they could beat The Judgment Day and win the Tag Team Titles. Bate then said that he will talk to Aldis to get a rematch in real to get the tag titles.
Dragon Lee vs Angel Garza
Dragon Lee is fired up and he took Angel with a drop kick. Lee took Angel to the corner and and stomps him over with the help of springboard. Garza acted like he hurt his knee and unable to stand, but he tricked referee and Dragon Lee and took control of him. Angel sent Lee out of the ring with a double knee strikes before the commercial.
After the commercial, Dragon Lee hit a sit-out powerbomb on Angel. Lee took Garza down with beat down. Lee kicked on his head and went for the top rope. Angel looks to stoo him, but Lee left him hanging and stomped him on the mid-section. Humberto tried to save him, but Lee hit a senton over the rop rope.
Angel hit a super kick and Dragon Lee rolled him for a win. After the match, LDF attacked Lee and delivered a Triple Powerbomb.
Damage CTRL
Damage CTRL on backstage cut a promo against Bayley stating that she is easy to be targetted and said that they will meet Bayley next week inside the ring. Dakota Kai will be facing Bayley next week in a singles match.
Backstage
Nick Aldis went to check Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes in their locker room, but they were not there. He asked securities, where are they and went took securities with him to find them out.
Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins confront The Rock & Roman Reigns
The Rock came out with a new entrance effect with lights out and thunder strikings, which was truely electrifying. Roman Reigns has the microphone on his hands and says that Greatness stands before them. Roman and Rock have an handshake and asks acknowledgment for them. Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins came from the audience side to the ring to confront The Rock & Roman Reigns.
Cody Rhodes says that it is real intense and bad blood. He’s lucky to be here and feel that in the sold out Dallas, Texas. Cody addresses Rock’s challenge and asks does he have Authority to make that match, because he acknowledged Roman Reigns as his Tribal Chief. Rock shuts Cody before Cody announces their decision. Rock asks Cody to accept the challenge and no other.
Rock explains the stipulation and everyone chants “Diarhea”. Seth Rollins is having fun. Rock continues stating the stipulation and Seth Rollins shuts The Rock. Rollins says that Rock’s time is over and called him a mid-life crisis. Rollins accepted their challenge. Roman says that if he beat Cody at WrestleMania, he gets no more shot at the title.
Rock says that he is the Director of TKO and the boss of them. He can do anything in his power and would make him not give another shot at the title. Rock says that Cody Rhodes is the younger one in his family and has 20 year gap between his siblings, because he was a mistake. Cody heard enough and slapped The Rock in the face. With that SmackDown television time comes to an end.

- Logan Paul introduces Prime as the center ring sponsor of WWE & Randy Orton hit an RKO on KSI.
- Randy Orton & Kevin Owens defeated Austin Theory & Grayson Waller.
- Bobby Lashley vs Karrion Kross ended in a no contest, after AOP & Street Profits got involved.
- Tiffany Stratton defeated Michin by pinfall.
- Dragon Lee defeated Angel Garza by pinfall, but got attacked by LDF after the match.
- Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins accepted The Rock & Roman Reigns challenge & Cody slapped The Rock.
