The Ring General is set for his first title defense this Saturday!
World Heavyweight Champion Gunther defeated Jey Uso on Raw after Money in the Bank PLE. This kicked off his second title reign as he not only defeated the Champion but also exacted his revenge for the humiliating loss at WrestleMania 41.
However, before his celebrations even began, a familiar face in Goldberg made his return and challenged him for a clash at the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Goldberg will battle Gunther for the title in his retirement match

In his return, Goldberg made it clear that he wants to finish what ‘The Ring General’ Gunther started at Bad Blood 2024 with his family in Atlanta, Georgia. The Ring General humiliated Goldberg in front of his family, questioning his fatherhood in front of his son, at Bad Blood 2024.
The Hall of Famer will compete in his retirement match against the Ring General for the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The WCW Icon will perform for the last time in front of his family and hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. However, Goldberg winning the match is an improbable possibility at the moment.
Gunther will battle Penta at the WWE Supershow in Texas
While Saturday Night’s Main Event (SNME) is set for this Saturday in Atlanta, Georgia, WWE will head to Texas next week for the ‘WWE Supershow’ at the American Bank Center Arena in Corpus Christi on July 19.
The official website of the venue recently highlighted the key attractions for the upcoming non-televised live event, including a match between Gunther and Penta for the World Heavyweight Championship. The announcement has seemingly spoiled the result of the SNME showdown between the Ring General and Goldberg.
While match cards are subject to change, it is highly unlikely that a match featuring two stars with the title is being advertised without confirmation from WWE.
Matches listed for WWE Supershow in Corpus Christi, Texas, next Saturday as per Cory Hays:
- Gunther (c) vs Penta – World Heavyweight Championship
- Cody Rhodes & Randy Orton vs Solo Sikoa & JC Mateo
- Tiffany Stratton (c) vs Nia Jax – Street Fight for the WWE Women’s Championship
