The 01/27 episode of the Red brand emanated from Atlanta

The 01/27 episode of Monday Night Raw served as the go-home show for the upcoming Royal Rumble PLE. The show aired live from the  State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and featured multiple top stars including Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Rhea Ripley, and more.

The show also featured multiple stars announcing their participation in the 2025 Royal Rumble match. A total of four matches and multiple segments took place on the 01/27 show to build towards the upcoming PLE. However, the thing that caught fans’ attention was the multiple storylines that the Stamford-based promotion teased during the show.

Here we will take a look at the top five storylines that WWE teased during the 01/27 episode of Monday Night Raw.

5. Gunther – Logan Paul

Although, it was already teased during Logan Paul’s WWE return on the Raw Netflix kick-off show. Gunther and Logan came face to face on the 01/27 show during the segment which also involved Seth Rollins. It seems like the promotion is adamant on a storyline between the two stars despite the cold reception from fans.

Paul also was showered with boos during his return as the fans drowned his promo with more boos. Nevertheless, Paul announced his entry into the Rumble match as he looks to dethrone the dominant champion at WrestleMania.

4. CM Punk – Sami Zayn

During the last week’s episode of the Red brand, CM Punk cut a promo where he discussed how would batter and eliminate everyone during the Rumble match. While talking about Sami Zayn, Punk commented that they are not on the same level.

It looks like Zayn took issue with the statement as he confronted Punk about his comments last week that “Sami Zayn is not on my level.” Punk went to reply, but Zayn stated that he wasn’t even mad because he agreed and reminded him that one of them had main-evented Mania and the other hadn’t.

3. Bayley – Iyo Sky

The history between Bayley and Iyo Sky is complex, to say the least from their Damage CTRL days to facing each other for the title at WrestleMania 40, where Bayley defeated Sky to capture the Women’s World title.

On the 01/27 episode, the two stars came face to face during a backstage segment where Bayley and Rhea Ripley had a brief face-off, after which Sky appeared and said, “See you Saturday,” before leaving, seemingly announcing her participation in the Rumble match.

2. Bron Breakker – Penta

Penta has catapulted into stardom after a mere two weeks of making his debut, the Luchador has defeated Chad Gable and Pete Dunne back to back in two matches, while he didn’t take part in any matches this week he was involved in a backstage segment.

Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker was backstage with Jackie Redmond where he declared his entry for the 2025 Royal Rumble match. During the segment, Penta appeared and gazed at the IC title as the two stars came face-to-face while the luchador didn’t say a word it seems like the promotion is pushing him into the IC title picture.

1. Cody Rhodes – CM Punk

‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes made his appearance on the Red brand as advertised, while the circumstances were different as he rushed in to aid Sami Zayn from Drew McIntyre but accidentally ate a Helluva kick from Zayn. Following the scuffle, Rhodes picked himself up and started talking to the audience but was interrupted by CM Punk.

The two stars had one of the most fiery promos in recent times as they both ripped into each other teasing a showdown at WrestleMania. While Punk initially showed compassion for his ‘friend’ the interaction soon turned hostile with Rhodes reminding him that the dynamic between the two had completely changed. He wasn’t chasing Punk anymore, Punk was now chasing him, unlike in the early days when Cody started his career.
