The road to WWE’s next PLE, Bash in Berlin goes through this week’s edition of SmackDown.

WWE is moving fast paced on the road to its next Premium Live Event, WWE Bash in Berlin. The event is set to take place on Saturday, August 31, at the Uber Arena in Berlin, Germany.

The recent developments have built intriguing storylines on the blue side of WWE, SmackDown, as the road to Bash in Berlin continues. Let us take a look at five storylines to watch out for at this week’s edition of SmackDown, taking place at Capital One Arena, Washington, DC:

5. Cody Rhodes & KO face-off

Tensions have began to rise after Cody Rhodes hand-picked his friend, Kevin Owens as his next opponent for the Undisputed WWE Title at Bash in Berlin. This week on SmackDown could possibly see another face-off between the duo and even lead to KO turning to his heel roots in hopes of clinching the top prize in WWE.

4. Women’s tag team title picture

The alliance of the reigning WWE Women’s tag team champions, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn and Blair Davenport, met their match when Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair were rejoined by Naomi. This week, both ideas will collide in a six-person tag team match, and could possibly set the tone for another tag title clash at Bash in Berlin between Fyre and Dawn versus Belair and Cargill.

3. Nia Jax & Tiffany Stratton equation

There was an odd reaction when the new WWE Women’s Champion, Nia Jax, asked her Princess and Miss Money in the Bank, Tiffany Stratton to bow down to her. As Jax will face Michin with her title on the line this week, WWE could use this opportunity to slowly build on this potential rivalry further, that would eventually set the tone for Tiffy to cash-in on Nia in the future.

2. LA Knight’s first title defense

LA Knight is set to defend his newly won WWE United States Championship against Santos Escobar. All eyes will be on the Megastar as he prepares for his first title defense that could have implications for his participation at the upcoming WWE Bash in Berlin PLE.

1. Jacob Fatu is back

Last week on SmackDown, WWE Universe witnessed the return of Jacob Fatu after SummerSlam and the sight of him taking down The OTC, Roman Reigns. This week, he and Tama Tonga would defend the WWE tag team titles against The Street Profits, while Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu and the rest of the Bloodline are expected to address their attack on Reigns, adding another layer to the highly intriguing narrative.
