The 9/20 episode of WWE SmackDown could be dramatic!
WWE is all set to host the September 20, 2024 episode of Friday Night SmackDown live from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California, United States. With just two weeks away from Bad Blood 2024 PLE, the show is expected to be filled with huge expectations. WWE also booked some of the interesting matches and segments for the show. Ahead of this week’s show, here are the top five storylines to watch out for on this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown.
5. Next challengers for women’s tag team title
Last week on SmackDown Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill during their backstage interview said that they are ready for any challenge and believe that nobody can stop them, claiming it is their show. At this stage, Nia Jax & Tiffany Stratton confronted the WWE Women’s Tag Team champions. Jax reminded them that she defeated both Belair and Cargill to become the Queen of the ring and thus holding the title.
Jax said that it is Jax and Stratton’s show and asked them to stay away from them. It seems like they are slowly sowing seeds for a tag team championship match between them. It would be interesting to see if they cross paths this week, resulting in a tag team title match in the future.
4. R-KO reacts to Cody’s alliance with Roman
Randy Orton & Kevin Owens have been having Cody Rhodes back against Roman Reigns & the Bloodline. However, Cody aligned with Roman to battle the new Bloodline. As Orton & Owens are still mad with Roman, however their best friend aligning with their rival could create tensions between them. Will Cody be able to convince Randy & Kevin or will they turn on Cody?
3. United States title is on the line
Last week on SmackDown, Andrade defeated Carmelo Hayes to end the sequel matches with the lead. Following the win, LA Knight popped out and offered Andrade a title shot, and the match will take place this week. Both Knight & Andrade are two of the toughest stars, there will be no short of a great match. As both rarely lose their match, this puts the chances of title change in a 50-50 situation. Will Andrade be able to defeat Knight to win the US title?
2. Loser quits SmackDown
Last week on SmackDown, Nia Jax & Tiffany Stratton challenged Bayley & Naomi to a tag team match for this week. Jax added stipulations saying that anyone who pins herself or Stratton will have a title shot at Bad Blood, however if they fail the loser will leave SmackDown permanently. Will Naomi or Bayley be able to pin Jax or Stratton to earn a title shot or will either one or both leave the blue brand permanently?
1. Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes vs The Bloodline
Roman Reigns made his long awaited return last week to have his revenge on Solo Sikoa and the new Bloodline, when Cody was cornered by the heel faction. This paved the way for an accidental union between Roman & Cody, although they have a lot of history. Later in the same show Cody & Roman agreed to team up against each other and face Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu at Bad Blood.
Ahead of their tag team match at Bad Blood, Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes are announced for this week’s show and they are expected to find some common ground between them. Will Cody & Roman develop come under the same page or will they show the differences to make Bloodline take advantage of the situation?
