Top five storylines to watch out for on WWE SmackDown (October 18, 2024)

The 10/18 episode of SmackDown carries huge anticipation among fans

WWE is all set to return on October 18, 2024, from the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina. The SmackDown episode on Friday will be a jam-packed event with many WWE stars scheduled to appear.

The episode will feature a number one contender match for the United States Championship that is currently held by LA Knight. The RAW General Manager Nick Aldis also announced Los Garza’s tag team fight against a ‘very special team’.

WWE has also announced several interesting matches and segments for the 10/18 SmackDown show. Here we take a look at the top five storylines to watch out for on this week’s SmackDown.

5. The situation between Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton could escalate

Following Nia Jax’s victory over Bayley at Bad Blood for the WWE Women’s Championship. Jax’s friend and Money in the Bank 2024 winner Tiffany Stratton was caught red-handed by the champion when she battered Bayley with the MIB briefcase and was contemplating cashing in the contract.

Amid their recent tensions, Jax and Stratton made an appearance on Monday night RAW this week. During their appearance, Jax attacked Rhea Ripley and Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan this created a chance for Stratton to cash in her contract but Dominik Mysterio saved Morgan before the cash-in.

Moving forward what will the dynamic between Jax and Stratton be? Will Tiffany try to cash in on Nia Jax or Will they decide to settle things between them?

4. MCMG debuting on the blue brand

WWE has been teasing the arrival of new wrestlers by airing cryptic messages during recent RAW and SmackDown episodes. Last week the hint was more subtle and SmackDown GM Nick Aldis confirmed the arrival of a new tag team on SmackDown.

Aldis also announced a surprise for Los Garza in the next week’s episode. He also stated that he has handpicked a very special team for them. There is a possibility that Los Garza’s opponent could be the debuting tag team of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, The Motor City Machine Guns.

3. Carmelo Hayes vs Andrade (Part VII)

Carmelo Hayes and Andrade are going to fight for the seventh time in a battle where both fighters took three wins. Hayes and Andrade are tied going in their fight this week. The winner of this fight would challenge LA Knight for the United States Championship.

What is the future of this triangular beef between Hayes, Andrade, and Knight? Who will challenge Knight for the United States title?

2. Randy Orton and Kevin Owens fallout

Kevin Owens stated his frustration with Cody Rhodes by attacking him after the Bad Blood 2024 PLE. He appeared on last week’s SmackDown to tell his side of the story. However, this only led to more chaos as he traded shots with his friend Randy Orton.

Owens then attacked Orton backstage as he was angry at him for going against him. Orton has recently fired back at Owens and vowed retaliation for the surprise attack backstage. Will the two former friends settle their dispute? Will this start a new rivalry between the two friends? What is the role of Cody Rhodes in this storyline? All the questions will be answered this week.

1. Roman Reigns vs The Bloodline 2.0

‘The Original Tribal Chief’ Roman Reigns will look for his revenge after an attack by the rogue Bloodline last week. Solo Sikoa along with the Bloodline attacked Reigns and Jimmy Uso using the numbers to their advantage.

Following the attack, Jimmy floated the idea of a reunion with his brother Jey Uso stating to Reigns that they need him to face the Bloodline. Jimmy also tried to reconcile with Jey this week on RAW.

It would be interesting to see if Jey Uso returns to the blue brand to take on the Bloodline along with Jimmy and Reigns. It would also be interesting to see Roman’s response after the recent attack. Will he retaliate against the Bloodline? Will he agree to bring Jey back to take on the rogue Bloodline?
