Storyline intensifies as WWE prepares for Raw debut on Netflix

WWE Monday Night Raw is heading to Boston, Massachusetts, and the TD Garden Arena is about to witness another thrilling night of action! From hard-hitting matches to heated rivalries, the Red Brand is all set to deliver.

The Stamford-based promotion delivered on their promise of a banging card from New York as fans witnessed the return of Saturday Night’s Main Event. The event featured four title matches alongside a grudge match between Drew McIntyre and Sami Zayn.

The promotion is now ready for their weekly programming of Monday Night Raw. Ahead of the 12/16 episode let us take a look at the top five WWE storylines you should watch out for this Monday night’s show.

5. World Tag Team Title Match

World Tag Team Champions Finn Balor and JD McDonagh are set to defend their crown against Erik and Ivar (War Raiders) in the 12/16 episode of the Red brand.

Last week, General Manager Adam Pearce made the World Heavyweight Championship match official, adding a twist by turning it into a triple threat bout between Gunther, Finn Bálor, and Damian Priest, following Finn’s attack on Priest and Gunther.

Pearce also informed Balor and McDonagh that they will defend their tag titles on the 12/16 episode. Balor suffered a defeat against Gunther in the Heavyweight title match at SNME in New York. The Judgement Day will now look to hold on to their tag titles.

4. Bron Breakker vs Ludwig Kaiser

Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker will defend his title against Ludwig Kaiser at the TD Garden this week. Breakker previously came out on top in a triple threat match against Sheamus and Kaiser at Survivor Series 2024, held at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena on November 30th.

Kaiser is set to challenge for the IC title once again, marking his second opportunity in less than a month. Will he seize this moment and claim the championship, or will the resilient brawler prove too much to overcome and reign supreme once more?

3. Liv Morgan vs Rhea Ripley

At Saturday Night’s Main Event, Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan successfully defended her title against Iyo Sky at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum against Iyo Sky.

After the match, ‘Mami’ Rhea Ripley made an appearance and engaged in a fierce face-off with the champion. The two stars are engaged in a fierce feud since Morgan defeated Ripley for the title when Dominik Mysterio backstabbed Mami at SummerSlam.

The face-off might be a signal of their forthcoming clash for the title probably at the upcoming PLEs next year or at Raw’s Netflix debut.

2. Drew McIntyre vs OG Bloodline

Drew McIntyre made a dramatic return during the fallout episode of Survivor Series, attacking Jey Uso backstage before delivering a brutal Claymore Kick to Sami Zayn in the closing moments of the show.

On the following week’s Raw, McIntyre reflected on the men’s WarGames match at Survivor Series, where he witnessed CM Punk aligning with Roman Reigns, Zayn, and the Usos. He criticized Zayn and the Usos for selling out with nothing to show for it, while Punk at least secured a deal with Paul Heyman.

The rivalry between McIntyre and Zayn continued as they faced off in a grudge match at SNME in New York. McIntyre emerged victorious and, after the match, made it clear that he had taken down one member of the OG Bloodline—but with four still standing, he hinted that he planned to take out the entire OG Bloodline.

It would be interesting to see if Drew targets CM Punk in this week’s episode as he helped the OG faction. He might also attack Jey Uso once again as he made it clear that he will not rest until he takes the entire faction down.

1. CM Punk vs Seth Rollins

Following his win alongside the OG Bloodline in men’s WarGames match, CM Punk stated his intentions to compete for the title once again. However, he was interrupted by a familiar foe as Seth Rollins came out and reignited the feud between the two.

The two stars continued to engage in a war of words on last week’s episode of the Red brand. The two stars are set to make an appearance on this week’s show in Boston.

It would be interesting to see how the feud between the two takes shape moving forward. Punk and Rollins are also set to face each other in the Netflix debut of the Red brand as per reports.

Who do you think will emerge victorious in the title matches? Do you think Drew McIntyre’s actions are justified? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
