WWE SmackDown will keep building towards Elimination Chamber 2025

The Stamford-based promotion delivered as promised on the Royal Rumble 2025 PLE, which featured two title matches as well as the traditional men’s and women’s Rumble matches. The PLE also kicked off the road to WrestleMania, with the next stop being the Elimination Chamber PLE.

The build to the PLE has already started with the fallout show of Monday Night Raw and the fallout show of Friday Night SmackDown will follow suit. The 02/07 episode of the Blue brand will emanate live from the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennesse.

5. Tag team turmoil continues

DIY successfully retained their WWE Tag Team Championships at the Royal Rumble in a hard-fought two-out-of-three falls match against the Motor City Machine Guns. However, the third fall was mired in controversy, as the returning Street Profits interfered, attacking the Guns with a crutch, setting up DIY for the win.

After the match, the Profits turned on DIY as well, igniting a three-way rivalry. Expect tensions to boil over on SmackDown, with DIY, the Guns, and the Street Profits all vying for dominance.

4. Elimination Chamber qualifying matches

The Road to WrestleMania is underway, and qualifying matches for the Elimination Chamber are in full swing. Monday Night Raw delivered two thrilling bouts: Liv Morgan defeated IYO SKY through cunning interference, while Sami Zayn fell to CM Punk in a legendary first-time clash.

With SmackDown hosting its own set of qualifiers, fans can anticipate more show-stealing matches as both the men’s and women’s divisions look to finalize the lineup for the high-stakes Chamber matches.

3. Charlotte Flair meets Tiffany Stratton

Royal Rumble winner Charlotte Flair is still deciding which champion she will challenge at WrestleMania 41. After evaluating NXT Women’s Champion Giulia earlier this week, Flair will now confront SmackDown Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton.

The meeting could spark a heated confrontation as Flair determines whether Stratton or perhaps another champion truly inspires her. SmackDown is the next stop on Charlotte’s scouting journey and tensions will be high.

2. Jey Uso meets Cody Rhodes

After winning the Men’s Royal Rumble, Jey Uso is at a crossroads as he decides which world champion to challenge at WrestleMania 41.

On Raw Uso reflected on his journey and received advice from World Heavyweight Champion Gunther, who dismissed the idea of a rematch, claiming it wouldn’t elevate his legacy. On SmackDown, Uso will come face-to-face with Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes to discuss his options. Will Jey’s WrestleMania path become clearer or will Cody complicate things further?

1. Cody Rhodes addresses his in-ring status

The Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is battling through injuries sustained in his brutal ladder match against Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble. With reports of lingering issues, fans are eager to hear an update on his condition as WrestleMania season rolls on.

Will Cody reveal the extent of his injuries and his ability to compete, or could his status shake up the WrestleMania main event picture? SmackDown promises answers to these burning questions.
