Top storylines to watch on WWE SmackDown tonight (March 27, 2026): Cody Rhodes returns; Drew McIntyre vs Jacob Fatu brawl & more

Tonight’s episode of the Blue Brand will emanate from Pittsburgh.

Live from the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, tonight’s WWE SmackDown will feature the in-ring return of Jelly Roll, who will battle Kit Wilson in a singles match. Women’s U.S Champion Giulia will also be in action against Tiffany Stratton in a non-title match.

Elsewhere on the card,  Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss will square off against The Bella Twins (Nikki & Brie Bella) this week. Meanwhile, General Manager Nick Aldis is set to provide an update on Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu following their wild brawl on last week’s show.

Cody Rhodes is being advertised for the show, leaving many fans to speculate about his return. Additionally, Randy Orton is also confirmed for the show. Let us now take a look at the top four storylines that might be in play on tonight’s WWE SmackDown.

4. Women’s U.S title

Women’s U.S. Champion Giulia is set to battle Tiffany Stratton in a non-title match tonight. The match was originally announced as a title clash, but WWE later changed it. Reports of a clash at WrestleMania have been rife, and tonight’s clash might prove consequential in setting up the match.

Chelsea Green’s involvement in the title match has also been speculated, but her inclusion will be decided based on her injury status.

3. The number’s game

In a surprising turn of events last week, B-Fab and Michin aligned with WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill. The three women then jumped Rhea Ripley, Cargill’s Mania opponent. The alliance has turned the tide in Cargill’s favor as the numbers game has left Ripley vulnerable.

It will be interesting to see if Rhea manages to overcome the odds or decides to call backup, namely her tag team partner Iyo Sky, from Raw.

2. Update on Drew McIntyre & Jacob Fatu

After brawling throughout last week’s show, Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu crashed down off a high steel structure during the closing moments of the show. GM Nick Aldis will provide an update on the two stars on this week’s SmackDown.

There are reports of a potential clash at WrestleMania inside the Hell in a Cell, which means fans can expect more chaos on tonight’s show.

1. Cody Rhodes’ absence

Cody Rhodes has been absent from programming since suffering the brutal beatdown at the hands of Randy Orton two weeks ago. As noted, Rhodes is being advertised for the show, while an appearance is not confirmed, many are speculating a return on tonight’s show.

Per reports, Cody will adopt a more aggressive, edgier “fight fire with fire” character to counter Orton. Rhodes returning with vengeance, means more carnage for fans on SmackDown.
