This week’s episode of the Blue brand is the final episode of 2024
The 12/27 episode of Friday Night SmackDown will emanate from the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. As 2024 comes to a close, WWE is wrapping up the year with two live shows featuring the Red & Blue brands. This episode of SmackDown will mark the Blue brand’s final show of 2024.
Multiple top stars are advertised for the show including WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax, LA Knight, Tiffany Stratton, and more. Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has also confirmed his appearance on tonight’s show. Ahead of the show, let’s explore five potential surprises that could be in store for fans.
5. Chelsea Green’s first title defense
Chelsea Green created history on December 15 at Saturday Night’s Main Event when she defeated Michin to become the inaugural Women’s United States Champion.
Multiple top stars from the Blue brand took part in the US title tournament and although they were unsuccessful they would be itching to get another shot at claiming the title. Green might be challenged to defend the US title on this week’s episode.

4. MCMG demand a rematch
The team of Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin (Motor City Machine Guns) recently lost their tag title at the hands of Tomasso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano (DIY). Gargano turned heel and landed a low blow on Sabin.
On the last week’s show, Shelley challenged Gargano to a singles match, the two were long-time friends before Johnny betrayed Shelley in the title match. MCMG vowed to take revenge on DIY but failed in doing so last week as Ciampa interfered during the match between Shelley and Gargano.
Motor City Machine Guns have been itching to get their hands on Ciampa and Gargano and they might demand a rematch for the title on this week’s episode.

3. Braun Strowman gets his hands on Carmelo Hayes
The unexpected feud between Braun Strowman and Carmelo Hayes started when Strowman was revealed as Carmelo’s mystery opponent on the 12/13 show. Braun made quick work picking up the win in under two minutes.
However, on the last week’s show, Hayes exacted his revenge albeit in a totally unprecedented manner. The loss irked Strowman who chased Hayes after the match. Hayes attacked Strowman with a chair backstage Braun was chasing after him.
This only fueled Strowman’s anger as he intensified his pursuit. Strowman may finally get his hands on Hayes this week, seeking revenge for Hayes’ actions and taunts.
2. LA Knight fights back
LA Knight lost the United States title at the hands of Shinsuke Nakamura at the Survivor Series 2024 PLE. Their clash was the result of a feud that started when Nakamura made his return and targeted Knight multiple times.
Knight ultimately demanded a rematch but was involved in a short feud with the Bloodline. LA Knight teamed up with Andrade & Apollo Crew and took on The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu & Tama Tonga) in a six-man tag match.
Despite winning the title, Nakamura attacked Knight during the match last week. This unprovoked attack might irk Knight who will hit back at Nakamura to send a message.
1. Cody Rhodes confronts Kevin Owens
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has confirmed his appearance on tonight’s episode of the Blue brand. He will make his return on WWE television for the first time since the main event of SNME where he defended his title against Kevin Owens.
Rhodes was attacked after the match as Owens landed the package piledriver which caused injury and forced him out of action. In his return, the champion will be eager to send a message to Owens, confronting him about his actions at SNME.
It will be interesting to see what happens when the two former friends come face to face in tonight’s episode of the Blue brand.
