The tournament returns this Thursday on WWE NXT.
NXT General Manager Robert Stone, on the September 15 edition of the show, announced the return of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The ninth edition of the tournament is set to kick off during the upcoming September 22, 2026, episode of NXT.
A total of 14 tag teams will compete in this single-elimination bracket, drawing talent from WWE‘s Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and Evolve brands, along with stars from Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA).
First established in 2015 as a tribute to Dusty Rhodes, the tournament returns in 2026 after a one-year gap since 2024, when Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin emerged victorious.
On the other hand, The Creed Brothers (Brutus Creed and Julius Creed) won the seventh edition of the tournament in 2022.
WWE has now announced the teams that will participate in the tournament via their social media, and here’s the full list of teams participating in the 2026 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Two tag teams will receive a first-round bye in the tournament. This group features the reigning NXT Tag Team Champions, The Vanity Project, the second team is yet to be revealed.
