Goldberg almost had a face-off with Gunther at WWE Bad Blood
WWE legend, Bill Goldberg has often voiced his desire to return to the ring for a final fight before he retires from pro wrestling. He was one of the most popular wrestlers during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Goldberg last fought in the ring at WWE Elimination Chamber 2022 where he lost to Roman Reigns. The WWE Elimination Chamber 2022 was held in Saudi Arabia. The WWE legend has been inactive since his last appearance in 2022.
Goldberg’s multiple Heavyweight Championship wins and a hall of worthy career in WWE and WCW had made him a household name among pro wrestling fans. However, he has been making headlines for an entirely different reason recently.
During WWE Bad Blood 2024 in Goldberg’s hometown Atlanta, Georgia, WWE Heavyweight Champion Gunther confronted Bill and insulted him in front of his family and called him a one-trick pony.
Gunther then went on to attack Bill on a very personal level which made the WWE legend visibly furious as he jumped the barricade to confront the WWE Heavyweight Champion. However, WWE security handled the situation and stopped it from escalating any further.
This confrontation made many fans demand a match between these two as fans are eager to see the former WWE legend back in action.
Goldberg is currently a free agent since last year
In the aftermath of Bad Blood 2024, Former Pro Wrestling referee Teddy Long appeared on the Wrestling Time Machine podcast. In the podcast, Long shared his opinion on the potential matchup between Goldberg and Gunther.
Long believes that the WWE legend is suffering from ring rust and suggested him to train in the NXT to get rid of ‘ring rust’.
“If they want to do something with him and GUNTHER, then let him go to NXT. Let him stay down there two or three weeks, get the rust off of him, work with Shawn and some of those guys down there that know what they’re doing. You know what I mean? And get it right.”
Long also hinted that Goldberg would humiliate himself if he does not train in the NXT before facing the WWE Heavyweight Champion.
