The Rock set to make history at WWE WrestleMania 40

The Rock is one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. He is one of the most entertaining and highly popular stars in the professional wrestling industry The Great One has created and broke a number of records in WWE.

The Rock will be breaking another record at this year’s WrestleMania. At WrestleMania 40, The Great One will be teaming up with Roman Reigns and face Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins in the main event of Night 1, with which The Rock will become the only second person to main event WrestleMania in four different decades.

The Rock’s WrestleMania main events by decades

1990’s

At WrestleMania 15, The Rock defended his WWF Championship on the line against Stone Cold Steve Austin in the main event of the show for the very first time, with Mick Foley as the Special Guest Referee. Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated The Rock and won the WWF Championship.

2000’s

At WrestleMania 16, The Rock faced Triple H, Mick Foley & Triple H for the WWF Championship in a Fatal 4-way match, where Triple H defeated the three and successfully retained the WWF Championship.

At WrestleMania 17, The People’s Champ defended his WWF Championship against Stone Cold Steve Austin in a No Disqualification match in the main event of the show. The Great One lost the match and the WWE Championship.

2010’s

At WrestleMania 28, Rock faced John Cena in the main event of the show. Their match is the sole selling point of the show and is promoted as “Once in a lifetime”. Rock defeated John Cena and won the match.

At WrestleMania 29, Rock defended his WWE Championship against John Cena in a rematch at the main event of the show. John Cena defeated The Rock and brought an end to the three year long feud between them.

2020’s

At WrestleMania 40, The Final Boss will team up with Roman Reigns and take on Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins at the main event of WrestleMania 40- Night 1. This match will play a major role in deciding the stipulation in the main event of Night 2, where Cody will challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

If Cody Rhodes & Roman Reigns win, the night 2 main event will be free from The Bloodline. If The Rock & Roman win, the next day’s main event will be a Bloodline rules match.
