The Rock is one of the biggest WWE superstars of all-time
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s return to WWE was not just a creative headline, it was a financial blockbuster.
Since re-aligning with the company under the TKO Group banner, Johnson has received compensation totaling tens of millions of dollars through stock awards, royalties, and covered expenses. Here’s a full breakdown of what WWE and TKO paid The Rock across 2024 and 2025.
The Rock has stock options with WWE
In January 2024, Johnson officially joined the TKO Board of Directors and entered into a services agreement with WWE.
As part of the deal, he regained ownership of “The Rock” trademark and related intellectual property, immediately licensing them back to WWE under a 10-year agreement.
A major component of the arrangement was a restricted stock unit (RSU) award valued at $30 million in TKO shares.
According to TKO’s annual filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Johnson received $21.7 million in TKO shares across two years – $17.7 million in 2024 and $4 million in 2025. This equity-based compensation formed the backbone of his earnings during the period.

Royalties, travel coverage and on-screen involvement

In addition to stock awards, Johnson received $900,000 per year in royalties in both 2024 and 2025. WWE also covered his travel expenses while he was working for the company.
Those expenses totaled $2.6 million in 2024 and $600,000 in 2025, reflecting his heavier involvement during his first year back.
The Rock played a central role at WrestleMania 41 in 2024, teaming with Roman Reigns in the night one main event against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. He later interfered in night two’s main event, where he famously took a chokeslam from The Undertaker.
His most recent appearance came at Elimination Chamber 2025, where he was instrumental in triggering John Cena’s heel turn. However, Johnson’s absence from WrestleMania 41 the following year drew criticism, as he shifted focus back toward his Hollywood commitments.
All told, between equity, royalties and covered expenses, Johnson’s WWE compensation across 2024 and 2025 comfortably surpassed $25 million in disclosed value, with additional long-term upside tied to TKO shares.
