Cody Rhodes would surely have a lot on his mind after the WWE Elimination Chamber PLE

The events of the WWE Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event will surely go down in history as some of the most game-changing nights in WWE history. The fans witnessed John Cena embracing years of hate and turning heel in shocking fashion by siding with The Rock and laying a beatdown on Cody Rhodes.

The American Nightmare will defend his Undisputed WWE title against the heel Cena at WrestleMania 41. With a lot on his mind and Rhodes appearing on SmackDown, here are the five possibilities in regard to his upcoming appearance:

5. Reveal a powerful ally in Roman Reigns

Cody Rhodes was outsmarted by John Cena and The Rock, who joined forces at the 2025 WWE Elimination Chamber PLE. With a whole week since that night, The American Nightmare might have worked out a plan to combat his new foes in another shocking turn of events.

Rhodes brought out his new ally, the returning Roman Reigns, to battle alongside him in exchange for a potential future title shot or just to take down two power-hungry forces.

4. CM Punk offers to join Cody Rhodes to take down his foes

Apart from Cody Rhodes, it seems that John Cena and The Rock have made another foe in CM Punk. The Best in the World launched a verbal tirade on both top WWE stars, claiming that they have always been a roadblock to his WrestleMania main event dreams.

Punk could come to SmackDown to strike a deal with Rhodes to take them down in exchange for being added to his title match at WrestleMania 41.

3. Cody Rhodes announces suffering multiple injuries going into WrestleMania

The beatdown Cody Rhodes suffered at the hands of The Rock, John Cena, and Travis Scott at Elimination Chamber PLE was hellacious. Rhodes was visibly bleeding and suffered legitimate injuries. His upcoming address on SmackDown could see The American Nightmare shed light on the multiple injuries he suffered, which could have a direct impact on his WrestleMania match against John Cena.

2. Cody Rhodes challenges both The Rock and John Cena to a tag team match

Cody Rhodes, much like last year, has two powerful enemies standing in his way. Last year it was The Rock and Roman Reigns. This year, it is once again The Final Boss and his new ally, heel John Cena. A similar scenario from last year’s road to WrestleMania could see Rhodes finding an ally of his own to challenge the duo to a match on one of the nights at WrestleMania 41 before colliding in a one-on-one contest with John Cena.

1. Cody Rhodes admitting being wrong to follow in the footsteps of John Cena

Many people, including Cody Rhodes himself, have said that he is following in the same footsteps as John Cena did during his prime as the face of WWE. The American Nightmare stated that he wants to have a similar run as Cena did as the flagship star of the company. However, on this week’s SmackDown, Rhodes would openly admit that he was wrong in gauging Cena as a role model and would instead now focus on vanquishing his evil side at WrestleMania 41.
