No conclusive plans for Roman Reigns for WrestleMania.

‘The OTC’ Roman Reigns is reportedly set to return soon, with WWE advertising the Original Tribal Chief for the upcoming Royal Rumble Premium Live Event. For months, speculation pointed toward a blockbuster rematch with Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania.

However, new reports suggest that the OTC is not currently penciled into the world title picture at WrestleMania 42. With his direction unclear, the situation has sparked intense debate among fans and insiders alike.

Here are three key reasons why the Head of the Table is reportedly out of the championship mix at The Showcase of the Immortals.

3. Roman Reigns does not need another title reign

When Reigns turned heel during the pandemic era, he embarked on one of the most dominant championship runs in WWE history. As Universal Champion, later the Undisputed WWE Champion, he defeated legends, headlined countless major shows, and redefined long-term storytelling.

That historic reign ended at WrestleMania 40, when Cody Rhodes finally dethroned him on the grandest stage. The moment was framed as a generational passing of the torch rather than a temporary setback.

At this stage, Reigns has nothing left to prove. Another title reign would add little to his legacy, making his absence from the championship picture a logical creative decision.

2. Part-timer status limits title plans

Roman Reigns returned in 2020 and, almost instantly, took over professional wrestling. His aura, presence, and drawing power reshaped WWE’s main-event landscape in a way few performers ever have.

That said, one of the biggest factors affecting his WrestleMania positioning is his part-time schedule. Under the creative leadership of Triple H, WWE has leaned more heavily toward rewarding full-time performers who appear week in and week out.

With Reigns no longer on a consistent weekly schedule, WWE may have decided that the world title picture at WrestleMania should revolve around talent more actively involved in ongoing storylines.

1. WWE is prioritizing the next generation

In recent months, WWE has clearly shifted toward elevating newer stars into marquee positions. This philosophy aligns with Triple H’s long-term vision of building sustainable main-event depth.

Rather than inserting Roman Reigns into another Undisputed Championship feud, the company appears focused on developing fresh rivalries and future cornerstones. This approach allows WrestleMania 42 to spotlight evolving narratives instead of revisiting familiar ones.

Names like Jacob Fatu have emerged as potential factors in ongoing storylines involving Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes, reinforcing WWE’s commitment to new blood at the top.

Has Roman Reigns been ruled out of a world title match at WrestleMania 42?

As of now, reports indicate that Roman Reigns is not planned for the world title picture, though WWE plans can always change.

Will Roman Reigns still have a major match at WrestleMania 42?

Yes. Even without a title, Reigns is expected to be featured in a high-profile storyline given his star power.
