OPINION – Tiffany Stratton's cash-in over Chelsea Green at Crown Jewel 2026 highlights WWE's creative bankruptcy

Tiffany Stratton steals Chelsea Green’s spotlight.
Chelsea Green finally had a moment worthy of her championship ambitions at Crown Jewel 2026. After being underestimated and mocked by Liv Morgan, Green showed a different side of herself in their Women’s Crown Jewel Championship match.
She absorbed Morgan’s offence, fought through repeated attacks, and gradually found her opening. Green’s resilience paid off when she countered Morgan’s Oblivion attempt into a jackknife pin, securing a surprise victory and claiming the Crown Jewel Championship.
It was a satisfying result for a performer who has often been used for comedy, and it gave her a rare opportunity to enjoy a major singles triumph. Unfortunately, WWE did not allow that moment to breathe for long.

WWE failed to deliver a ‘surprise’ with the Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea Green sequence
The problem was not Stratton winning the Women’s Championship. Stratton is a talented performer, and a heel turn could give her character a fresh direction. The problem was how familiar the entire sequence felt.
She had already betrayed Nia Jax with a Money in the Bank cash-in in January 2025, using their friendship to get close to the champion before turning on her. At Crown Jewel, the program repeated almost the same formula with Chelsea Green.
More importantly, fans had been predicting this outcome. Stratton’s repeated focus on Liv Morgan and the briefcase teases made a cash-in seem inevitable, while her friendship with Green made the eventual betrayal an obvious possibility.
The promotion could have used the uncertainty to build suspense or delivered a genuine surprise by having Stratton target Morgan. Instead, it chose the most predictable route and replayed a familiar story.
Green had just earned a meaningful moment after being overlooked for so long. Having her celebration interrupted almost immediately reduced the value of that victory. It also made the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship feel like a prop in a briefcase angle rather than a major achievement.
A heel turn for Stratton makes sense, but the creative team did not need to recycle the Nia Jax storyline to get there. The company had an opportunity to create a different narrative for its new champion. Instead, this cash-in at Crown Jewel felt like creative deja vu.
What’s next for Tiffany Stratton after winning the title?

Stratton now has several potential challengers on SmackDown. Chelsea Green is the obvious first opponent, with a personal score to settle after the betrayal. A rematch would also give Green a chance to reclaim the spotlight that the team took away so quickly.
Liv Morgan could also enter the picture after losing the match against Green. Meanwhile, Charlotte Flair and Jade Cargill are two established names who could provide major title programmes. Flair’s return on the November 6 SmackDown has already brought her into the spotlight, while Jade remains a formidable presence in the women’s division.
The company has enough challengers to make Stratton’s reign interesting. The key is to give these rivalries proper build-up instead of relying on another predictable betrayal or surprise cash-in.
On the contrary, Penta holds Men’s Money in the Bank contract. But there is an element of surprise with his decision to cash in the contract following his recent match against Roman Reigns and the ongoing segment around Sami Zayn.
Why did Tiffany Stratton cash in on Chelsea Green at Crown Jewel 2026?
Stratton used her Money in the Bank contract after Green had just won the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship and betrayed her friend, which was the easiest target to pin with the Prettiest Moonsault Ever to win the Women’s Championship.
What is the next PLE after Crown Jewel?
The next Premium Live Event (PLE) is Survivor Series: WarGames, which takes place on November 28, 2026, in Houston, Texas.
