Among the multiple high-stakes matches announced for Night of Champions 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is a Women’s United States title match, where reigning Champion Tiffany Stratton takes on former Women’s Champion Jade Cargill.
The match was set up after Cargill, along with B-Fab and Michin, delivered a beatdown after a tag team match where Stratton teamed up with Chelsea Green to take on B-Fab and Michin. Cargill also held the US title, making her intentions clear.
During the July 19 edition of SmackDown, Cargill challenged Stratton for a title showdown, which the reigning Champion accepted later in the show, making the match official for Night of Champions.
With the upcoming title defense this Saturday, Stratton is set to make WWE history for the Women’s United States title.
For the first time the Women’s US title will be defended at a PLE
With the title defense at Night of Champions, Tiffany Stratton will become the first woman to defend the Women’s United States title at a WWE Premium Live Event (PLE). Since its introduction in December 2024, the championship has been held by four different stars across six title reigns.
However, the title has never been featured at a PLE since its inception. Although Zelina Vega has defended the title at Saturday Night’s Main Event and even the inaugural Champion, Chelsea Green captured the title, defeating Michin at SNME.
Notably, fans have long called for the championship to be featured on WWE PLEs, but those hopes never came to fruition. The upcoming title defense also appears to be a result of Rhea Ripley’s injury, which likely led to changes in WWE’s original plans as Stratton replaced Ripley on the PLE poster.
Whatever the case may be, Stratton will enter the books as the first Women’s US Champion to defend it on a Premium Live Event. Will she be able to retain the title in her third title defense, or will Cargill and her henchwomen stack the numbers against the Champion to capture the title in Riyadh?
