The American Nightmare is still looking for his first opponent after his historic title win

With the start of a new era in WWE, there are plenty of things that one can expect from WWE. The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes has won his first ever main event Championship in WWE defeating the Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns.

There are plenty of superstars who want to get into the main event picture and eventually fight Cody Rhodes for the gold. Here is a list of five superstars on Smackdown who could face Cody Rhodes for his Championship in the coming future.

AJ Styles

With the newest episode of Smackdown approaching, a match lined up in the show is getting a lot of attention from the fans. The match is between LA Knight and the phenomenal one AJ Styles to determine who will face Cody for the Championship. While LA Knight has already defeated AJ Styles once, now it might be his turn to do so.

After his heel turn, AJ is portrayed as a very strong wrestler and one can expect a great match from both of them. The match would be really a five-star one if and when it happens and eventually Cody could avenge for his father who lost against AJ at TNA a long time back.

LA Knight

The Yeah king LA Knight lost his chance to win the Undisputed title when he was against Roman Reigns recently. If LA Knight defeats AJ Styles at Smackdown, one can expect a fight between him and Cody Rhodes at Backlash 2024, which is expected to happen in France.

With LA Knight already acting like one of the best babyfaces of the company, it will be no surprise if he wins against the Phenomenal one to challenge Cody Rhodes for his title. It would be interesting to see how WWE plans a face v/s face match if he wins against AJ.

Randy Orton

Randy Orton’s return to WWE in 2023 brought a renewed intensity and focus to his character, setting the stage for potentially compelling storylines and matchups. The prospect of him facing Cody Rhodes, especially considering their shared history in Legacy, adds an intriguing layer of depth to their potential feud.

A clash between Orton and Rhodes could serve as a culmination of their intertwined past, with Orton seeking to assert his dominance over his former protege. If Orton were to emerge victorious, capturing his 15th world championship in the process, it would add further significance to their rivalry and solidify Orton’s status as a WWE legend.

The storyline potential between Orton and Rhodes, combined with the opportunity for Orton to make history by capturing another world championship, would undoubtedly generate considerable interest from fans and add excitement to WWE programming.

Solo Sikoa

Solo Sikoa’s rogue actions within The Bloodline add an intriguing twist to the dynamics of the stable, especially in the absence of Roman Reigns. Assuming leadership and setting his sights on the same championship that Reigns once held could serve as a compelling storyline arc.

A showdown between Solo Sikoa and Cody Rhodes would not only showcase Sikoa’s determination to establish himself as a dominant force within The Bloodline but also provide an opportunity for him to assert his legitimacy as a leader. The clash between the two could be fueled by personal vendettas and a desire for power, adding layers of drama and intensity to their feud.

With Sikoa seeking to solidify his position at the head of The Bloodline, a championship match against Rhodes would be a pivotal moment in his quest for supremacy. The outcome of such a match could shape the future direction of both Sikoa’s character and The Bloodline stable, setting the stage for intriguing developments in WWE storytelling.

Kevin Owens

With Owens being one of the top babyfaces of the company, WWE might not go ahead with Rhodes v/s Kevin Owens. While Rhodes v/s Roman Reigns looks like a less of possibility right now. Owens might be a good option for a feud against him. Owens as a heel works really well when it comes to action and Mic skills and that is what he wants to regain momentum against what is happening with him since the split up of his and Sami’s team.

We will have to tune into the latest episodes of Smackdown to see what happens with Rhodes. While there is a possibility of these matches to happening everything else depends on Paul Levesque, who is the creative controller of WWE right now.
