These icons stand above the rest on the grandest stage of them all

Since its inception in 1985, Wrestlemania has completely transformed the world of professional wrestling. Every spring, WWE superstars put it all on the line at the grandest stage of them all to create historic moments and timeless matches.

However, among all the wrestlers who have competed in WrestleMania, some names stand above the rest. These icons have left a mark on the event’s legacy and have defined WrestleMania.

The word GOAT is thrown around too easily in today’s world but these superstars have established themselves as the greatest competitors in the show’s history and have shaped what WrestleMania is today.

7. The Rock

The most electrifying man in all of sports entertainment takes the seventh place on our list. The Rock has main-evented WrestleMania six times. He has headlined arguably the greatest Wrestlemania show of all time against Stone Cold Steve Austin and has been a part of iconic programs like ‘Icon’ vs ‘Icon’ against Hulk Hogan and ‘Once in a Lifetime ‘ against John Cena.

6. Stone Cold Steve Austin

The Texas rattlesnake was the biggest name of the Attitude Era and will go down as one of the most iconic figures in Wrestling’s history. His Wrestlemania legacy is also unmatched. His iconic submission match against Bret Hart, Jaw-dropping heel turn against the Rock, and him coming out of retirement after 19 years to stun Kevin Owens are some of his most memorable highlights from the show of shows.

5. Bret Hart

Bret Hart is widely regarded as the best technical wrestler in the history of professional wrestling. He mastered the art of storytelling during matches and revolutionized WWE post the Golden Era. His matches against Owen Hart and Stone Cold Steve Austin have stood the test of time and have attained ‘Immortal’ status. He broke many wrestling stereotypes and paved the way for the next generation.

4. Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan was the face of WWE’s Golden Era in the 1980s and helped the business breaking into the mainstream. He was an integral part of the very first WrestleMania and the event’s success with him as its centerpiece kept the company alive. Him slamming Andre The Giant and his programme with Macho Man Rangy Savage and The Ultimate Warrior are edged into the history books and defined what Wrestlemania is today.

3. Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns has main evented WrestleMania nine times which just shows the trust WWE have in him to close their biggest show. The Bloodline storyline and his historic title run from 2020 to 2024 were a key factor in reviving mainstream interest in WWE. His matches against Brock Lesnar, Cody Rhodes, Edge, and Daniel Bryan are modern classics and forced the fans to acknowledge Roman Reigns as one of the greatest performers in the history of WrestleMania.

2. Shawn Michaels

The heartbreak kid’s impact on the grandest stage of them all is so immense that he has been given the title of ‘Mr. Wrestlemania.’ Shawn Michaels is one of the best in-ring workers in WWE’s history but he shined the brightest during the Wrestlemania season. His match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 25 is widely regarded as the greatest match in the history of Professional wrestling and that is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Michael’s WrestleMania legacy.

1. The Undertaker

Was there ever any doubt? No other name in WWE’s history is more synonymous with WrestleMania than the Undertaker. The phenom’s undefeated streak was a massive attraction for the show and meant more than the main event itself to some fans. From Wrestlemania 24 to 29, The Undertaker undoubtedly had the best match on the card and the fact that he was in his 40s during the time, makes it even more impressive. The most successful character having the best matches on the biggest stage in WWE cements his status as the GOAT of WrestleMania.
