WWE came close to firing its current COO, Triple H
In a conversation with Sports Bible, WWE COO, Paul ‘Triple H‘ Levesque reminisced about the time the Stamford-based promotion almost fired him due to his skits with Shawn Michaels. Before his days as the WWE top brass, Levesque was one of the biggest stars in the promotion.
Although he achieved significant success later on, Triple H recalled that during his time in D-Generation X with Shawn Michaels, the promotion had threatened to fire him.
On July 18, 2011, Vince McMahon announced that moving forward Triple H would work as the COO (Chief Operating Officer) of WWE.
Levesque took the Stamford-based promotion to new heights since taking over the role of Chief Operating Officer. Even after the exit of former CEO Vince McMahon, Levesque managed to not only keep the company afloat but reach new heights.

USA Network was furious with Triple H and Shawn Michaels over their skits
While teaming up with Shawn Michaels, Triple H’s DX faction took part in some of the wildest and most outrageous segments in WWE history.
The D-Generation X was the brainchild of Levesque and Shawn Michaels during the ‘Attitude Era’. The group consisted of big names from the wrestling world including, Chyna, X-Pac, Road Dogg, and Billy Gunn.
The group often pushed the limit of what was acceptable, and their skits which became legendary among fans made the USA Network furious at that time. The network even wrote to Vince McMahon insisting that the group’s antics had gone too far.
During the conversation, Levesque told SPORTbible that the controversial nature of his skits with Shawn Michaels was so extreme that the USA Network intervened, forcing Vince to issue an ultimatum.
“We were literally getting threatened to be fired every week, when we would come back, Vince, but he was getting letters from USA (Network), there’s a very famous skit that we did where USA (Network) had been on us for weeks that these guys cannot say that stuff, they cannot do those gestures, they have to stop it!” Levesque revealed.
“Vince would tear us apart, you guys are going to get us thrown off the air, God Damn! he (McMahon) was pissed, but he wasn’t doing anything about it. So there’s a moment in time that we get this letter from USA network that- the whole letter is – the DX has gone too far,” He added.
The faction decided to have some fun by reading the aforementioned letter from the USA Network during an episode of Raw, much to the amusement of the WWE top brass, who found it entertaining.
Levesque and Michaels were never fired as we all know now and they went on to become the greatest wrestlers of their time, breaking many records in the process.
