‘The Second City Saint’ holds many records in different promotions
CM Punk is regarded as one of the most famous WWE talents of the modern era. The Second City Saint sprang to notoriety in 2011 following his infamous ‘pipebomb’ promo, which catapulted him to superstardom.
Despite challenging some of the biggest names and building an excellent career in WWE, Punk left the company in 2014 due to many grievances and remained out of the wrestling business for seven years.
The Best in the World returned to wrestling in 2021 with AEW, but only for two years. AEW President Tony Khan fired CM Punk after a real-life backstage brawl with Jack Perry.
CM Punk has this unique record in his repertoire
For those who don’t know CM Punk is the only wrestler in WWE history to successfully defend the WWE title at Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam & Survivor Series in the same calendar year 2012.
Many fans might say then what about Roman Reigns. For the past 4 years, Roman Reigns made his name & had made sure that he would be available at the 4 biggest WWE PPVs, but even with his caliber, he hasn’t been able to get this record under his belt.
Royal Rumble in 2012 happened in January, where CM Punk defended his title against Dolph Ziggler. Then later, on WrestleMania 28 Punk found himself in a feud with Chris Jericho. At the grandest stage of them all in the same year CM Punk defended his title against Y2J to retain the WWE Championship.
In SummerSlam 2012, CM Punk entered as a champion defending his title against Big Show & John Cena in a triple threat match. But, Punk made sure he won as when John Cena thought he had won pinning Big Show, Punk intervened throwing John Cena out of the ring & pinned Big Show to defend his title.
Again in Survivor Series 2012, CM Punk found himself in a triple threat match where he had to face John Cena & Ryback but Punk made sure he would win the match and added this unique record to his resume.
