Danhausen made his debut in Chicago.

After the World Heavyweight title match between CM Punk and Finn Balor at WWE Elimination Chamber last Saturday in Chicago, General Managers Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis pried open the mystery crate with a crowbar, only to discover a coffin inside. The two officials stepped back as the lid slowly creaked open.

Eerie laughter echoed throughout the arena, followed by a chilling voice declaring that everyone was cursed. Moments later, several women emerged, followed by the reveal of Danhausen, the former AEW star who made his WWE debut after his contract with AEW expired.

However, the debut fell flat due to high expectations from fans and many simply not being familiar with the former AEW star. Some fans in attendance also documented boos from the crowd during his debut.

Danhausen will be backstage on the fallout show of Monday Night Raw

Danhausen’s debut quickly became a hot topic online, dividing fans across social media. While many praised the move and welcomed his arrival, others were more critical of how it unfolded.

Now, a new report from BodySlam+ has provided additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding his debut and the nature of his contract.

Per Bodyslam, Danhausen has officially signed a multi-year agreement with WWE. The promotion initially aimed to secure his signature in July 2025. However, AEW exercised an extension on his existing contract, preventing him from entering free agency until 2026.

As for his debut, PWI Elite reports that WWE took significant precautions to keep his presence under wraps ahead of Elimination Chamber, particularly to avoid being spotted by fans in Chicago before the show.

Following his debut, the outlet also notes that Danhausen is scheduled to be backstage at the upcoming episode of Raw, set to take place at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Meanwhile, Dave Meltzer indicated that Danhausen’s arrival under Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque’s creative direction was not universally supported within the company. While some decision-makers strongly advocated for bringing him in, others were reportedly less enthusiastic about the move.

It will be interesting to see how WWE presents Danhausen going forward and what creative plans await him ahead of the Chamber PLE.
