The latest wave of departures has sent shockwaves through the fandom
Reports began surfacing on Friday evening of the WWE releasing multiple stars from their contract. Among the early names were Sonya Deville, Blair Davenport, Paul Ellering, Authors of Pain (Akam & Rezar) and Cedric Alexander.
As per Fightful Select, the promotion has informed Deville that her contract with the WWE will not be renewed and “She will be eligible for free agency upon it expiring, which we’re told is in a number of weeks.”
Following Davenport’s release, Fightful reported that there were “never any plans” for her in creative, despite rumors suggesting she would have a larger role when SmackDown expanded to three hours.
Additionally, there were no creative plans for AOP (Akam & Rezar) or Paul Ellering after their program with the Wyatt Sicks concluded. The outlet also noted that WWE’s decision not to renew Deville’s contract stemmed from the company not seeing much “upward trajectory” for her after a decade with the organization.
However, the wave of releases didn’t stop as more superstars were reportedly released by the Stamford-based promotion. Here we take a look at the updated list of stars who were released by the promotion as of Saturday 1:25 PM ET.
