Undertaker on Hulk Hogan’s fake injury
Undertaker on his ‘Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway’ podcast recalled his 1991 Survivor Series Match with Hulk Hogan, where the Phenom said that Hogan told him that he is feared to take the Tombstone before the match. Taker then hit him with the Tombstone carefully but still Hogan claimed himself injured, which made Taker realize who he is as a person.
The Undertaker said,
“1991, My one year anniversary with the company, I wrestled none other than the Golden Goose himself. I’m gonna win the championship, that would have made me the youngest champion in WWF at the time in history. I’m walking down the hall, ‘Hey Brother, I’m really nervous about taking Tombstone.’ I said, ‘I’ll take great care of you, your head will never touch.
“Match goes the way it goes, now it’s time for the finish, ‘Boom’. As soon as my knees touch, ‘oh brother, you got me’ and all of a sudden I hear Hogan go, ‘somebody get my wife and kids on the phone’. They take him off to the hospital. ‘Oh I just crippled the Golden Goose, I’m done’. It took a few years before I actually got to see the footage, his head never touched.”
“Now there’s ‘This Tuesday in Texas’ pay-per-view I’m thinking, ‘Oh man this is going to be my punishment, they’re going to take the title away from me’. Terry shows up and I was like I watched the footage back, your head never hit. ‘But you had me so tight that, when I came down like, I didn’t have any room to move. It wrenched my neck’. It let me know everything that I needed to know, about who he was as a person.”
