What started during the Raw Netflix debut is coming to an end in December, as John Cena’s retirement tour wraps up. Cena is set to compete in his final match at the December 13 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., will host Saturday Night’s Main Event in December, marking the venue for the historic final match of John Cena‘s legendary career.
John Cena announced a tournament to determine his final opponent
During the November 1 edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, John Cena, via surprise video package, reflected on his journey and said he made a promise to walk away when he could no longer perform at the level the WWE Universe deserves.
He revealed that his final opponent will not be chosen by him or WWE management. Instead, it will be determined through a 16-man tournament that begins November 10 in Boston, the city where his WWE career began more than two decades ago.
The 17-time World Champion revealed that the upcoming tournament will feature top names from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and even competitors from outside WWE.

According to a report from Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, many within WWE believe that Vince McMahon and Donald Trump are expected to attend John Cena’s final match.
“I have had people speculate that both Donald Trump and Vince McMahon are gonna be at John Cena’s final match. I mean, Vince can be there. He can buy a ticket. There is a way to get him there.
Whether they show him on TV or make a big deal out of it would be something different, but I’ve certainly had people in WWE who firmly believe that Vince and Donald Trump are both gonna be at John Cena’s last match.”

His opponent will be chosen through a 16-man tournament involving stars from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and outside promotions.
When does the tournament begin?
The tournament begins Monday, November 10, 2025, in Boston, Massachusetts.
